The Municipality of Lugano recently announced the hiring of Christian Castelli as the new operations director of Lugano Airport. This appointment reflects the city's commitment to enhancing and improving the service offered by the airport, as well as ensuring professional and competent management of airport operations.

Christian Castelli, a Swiss citizen with rich international experience, was born in Grenchen in 1973 and spent most of his life in Sonvico. Having graduated in Economics of Public Administrations and International Institutions from Bocconi University in Milan in 2001, he subsequently obtained a Master in Business Administration from Copenhagen Business School in 2006. His career has been characterized by over twenty years of managerial experience at the United Nations, where he held various positions of responsibility in international missions.

The arrival of Christian Castelli is welcomed with great enthusiasm, as he is expected to bring extensive experience and expertise in the civil aviation sector, as well as a global perspective on operational and management issues. His task will be to work in close collaboration with Davide Pedrioli, current general manager of Lugano Airport, to ensure a smooth and effective transition into his new responsibilities.

Davide Pedrioli will remain in his position as CEO, focusing his efforts on the strategic direction of the airport and relations with municipal, cantonal and federal authorities. In the meantime, he will work closely with Christian Castelli to facilitate the integration and orientation of the new COO within the organization.
