With the participation of 179 galleries from 30 countries and five continents, miart confirms its role as a point of reference for the European art scene, offering an extraordinary variety of works spanning over a century of art history.

Under the artistic direction of Nicholas Ricciardi, miart 2025 stands out for its balance between local specificity and international scope. The three sections into which the fair is divided, Established, Emerging e Portal, offer a journey between the past and present of art, bringing established artists into dialogue with new emerging voices.

Miart 2025: an edition between continuity and innovation

This year's theme, among friends, is inspired by the figure of Robert Rauschenberg, on the centenary of his birth. The guiding idea is to consolidate and enhance the relationships between gallery owners, artists, collectors and institutions, encouraging dialogue and collaboration in the art world. This philosophy translates into a program of museum exhibitions, artistic commissions and talks that will delve into Rauschenberg's legacy and his interdisciplinary approach.

The sections and galleries

As we were saying, the fair is divided into three sections

  1. Established, the main section of the fair, welcomes internationally renowned galleries such as Ben Brown Fine Arts, Sadie Coles HQ, MASSIMODECARLO, Meyer Riegger, Victoria Miro and Esther Schipper. The presence of new galleries alongside established names further enriches the artistic offering of the event. Among the confirmations, Galleria Continua, Cardi Gallery, Lia Rumma and Raffaella Cortese stand out, contributing to maintaining the high quality of the exhibition.
  2. The Emergent section, curated by Attilia Fattori Franchini, highlights young talents and new projects, with the participation of 25 international galleries. Among the emerging realities, we can mention ArtNoble Gallery, eastcontemporary and MATTA from Milan, as well as galleries from London, Toronto and Mexico City. Some of these, after having participated in previous editions as emerging artists, are now arriving in the Established section, confirming miart as a springboard for new artists and galleries.
  3. The Portal section, curated for the first time by Alessio Antoniolli, explores alternative narratives and innovative approaches, bringing together ten monographic projects that challenge traditional categorizations. Among the protagonists, the Ghanaian collective blaxTARlines, the Amazonian artist Santiago Yahuarcani and the Cameroonian sculptor Victor Fotso Nyie.

Awards, Collaborations and Acquisitions

Among the awards that will be assigned during the event, miart is once again offering the Herno Award for the best exhibition project, the LCA Studio Legale Award for Emergent, for the best presentation among emerging galleries, and the Orbital Cultura – Nexi Group Award, dedicated to photography. Also important is the Fondazione Fiera Milano Acquisition Fund, worth 100.000 euros, intended for the purchase of works that will become part of the Foundation's collection.

A significant collaboration is the one with Intesa Sanpaolo, the event's main partner, which will present a selection of works by Robert Rauschenberg from the Luigi and Peppino Agrati Collection. Among the partnerships, the one with Maison Ruinart stands out, which will curate an artistic project inside the VIP Lounge.

Milan Art Week and the role of miart

Miart will take place at the same time as Milan Art Week, the contemporary arts festival that involves the city's museums, foundations and galleries, strengthening the role of the Lombard capital as an international cultural hub, capable of bringing together the north and south of the world.
