sustainable tourism LeventinaIn the Municipality of Quinto an intervention is taking shape which is destined to impact the tourist offer of the Leventine. The SORA project provides for the recovery of theformer Hotel Pensione Corecco, a historic building in Lurengo, with the aim of restoring its contemporary function, without sacrificing its original identity.

The structure, probably dating back to the end of the 19th century, is part of a phase of expansion of the Alpine tourism linked to the opening of the Gotthard Railway Tunnel in 1882. In that period the valley became easily accessible from Northern Italy and from Milan, attracting a bourgeois and aristocratic clientele and encouraging the birth of numerous hotels, especially in the area of faido.

The project involves not only the renovation of the existing building but also a contemporary expansion, aiming to integrate past and present into a single, coherent concept. The complex will offer 22 rooms and four apartments intended for secondary residences, connected to the hotel management.

The design approach focuses on tourism that is sensitive to the context, prioritizing a slow exploration of the area and a high-quality stay. The project has already received a building permit from the Municipality of Quinto, while the operational timeline will be defined in the next phases together with the partners involved.

Wellbeing and services at the heart of the offer

A distinctive feature of the new facility will be its wellness offering. The project includes a panoramic indoor and outdoor pool, a sauna, spaces for physical activity and relaxation, and treatment rooms.

Completing the offer are a restaurant and a bar with a panoramic terrace, a lounge with a library and infrastructures designed for sustainable mobility: a two-level garage with electric charging stations and spaces equipped for bicycles and e-bikes.

sustainable tourism LeventinaThe promoters' statements

“With SORA we intend to restore a function to a building that belongs to the history of the valley”, he states Daniele Pronzini. “The idea is to accompany its recovery with a measured project, consistent with the context and credible in the territorial offering.”

For the mayor Davide Gendotti, the initiative represents "an important signal", capable of enhancing the existing heritage and strengthening the valley's attractiveness through balanced development.

Positioning and tourist vision

The project also benefited from the contribution of the consultancy firm led by Elia Frapolli, who worked on the positioning of the future structure.

According to Frapolli, contemporary tourists are increasingly oriented toward authentic experiences that are in keeping with the local area. In this sense, the hotel is no longer simply a starting point, but becomes a destination in itself, offering well-being, time, and a connection with the landscape.

A territory to be promoted online

The initiative is part of a natural context already rich in attractions, such as the Piora Valley, Lake Tremorgio , Leventina High Road, destinations popular with hikers and nature lovers.

As emphasized Juri Clericetti, a well-integrated accommodation structure can help network these resources, encouraging a wider and more distributed frequentation of the valley.

The SORA project is thus part of a broader strategy to enhance the Leventina area, focusing on quality, sustainability, and territorial identity.
