Five years after the opening of the first facility, the Monte Generoso Diffused Hotel It confirms its original model for territorial valorization. Through the restoration of historic buildings, collaboration between public and private entities, and a focus on local products, the project now looks to the future with a new symbol of identity: the DIVONA 909 wine, produced from vineyards cultivated above 900 meters above sea level.
What significance do these first five years of the Albergo Diffuso Monte Generoso have?
These have been very important years, because the project has demonstrated that it is possible to sustainably enhance a territory without distorting its character. The Albergo Diffuso wasn't created simply to create beds, but to build a network capable of generating value for the valley, its residents, and the local economy. Today, we see the results of a collaborative effort involving public and private entities, as well as local businesses.
How important is networking between organizations, institutions, and local communities today?
It's crucial. A project like this can only work through collaboration. The Albergo Diffuso brings together different entities that share a common vision of the region and tourism. This allows us not only to offer a more authentic experience to guests, but also to create a tangible impact on the entire region.
How important is it for tourists to have authentic, local experiences?
Today, many visitors are looking for precisely this: authenticity, contact with the landscape, local products, and a different pace than the big tourist destinations. The Muggio Valley and Monte Generoso have a very strong identity, and our goal is to enhance it without turning it into something artificial. It's a slower, more conscious form of tourism, closer to the people.
You presented the new DIVONA 909 wine. What is the significance of this project?
"It has a very symbolic but also very concrete value. From the beginning, we wanted to create a product that spoke of the territory and was born directly from it. The new wine perfectly embodies this philosophy: it is produced with grapes grown above 900 meters above sea level, through a sustainable approach and an entirely local supply chain. It is an element that further strengthens the identity of the Albergo Diffuso."
What prospects do you see for the future of the Alta Valle di Muggio and the Albergo Diffuso Monte Generoso?
I believe this region has great potential precisely because it has managed to preserve its authenticity, landscape, and quality of life. The future will be to continue growing while maintaining this balance, developing new experiences, and strengthening the connection between hospitality, nature, culture, and local products. The goal is to make the valley increasingly attractive without losing its soul.
