Flavors in Carvina: A new itinerary of flavor and local tradition is born in Monte Ceneri.

The September 12th event offers almost twelve kilometers of walking with eleven stops dedicated to local excellence, involving associations, producers and volunteers of the Carvina Valley.

The calendar of Ticino events dedicated to food and wine is enriched with a new initiative which aims to put the Carvina Valley at the centre, an area located between the municipalities of Monteceneri and Mezzovico-Vira. In fact, it will debut on Saturday 12 September 2026 Flavors in Carvina, an event that offers a walking trail through woods, meadows, and historic centers, accompanied by tastings of local products and opportunities to meet local people.

The initiative was born with the aim of promoting a lesser-known area of Ticino, bringing together the natural environment, gastronomic traditions, and community. The project is part of the growing interest in forms of slow tourism, which can foster a deeper exploration of local specialties through shared experiences.

A journey through nature, villages, and Ticino flavors

The route is 11,9 kilometers long and has an elevation gain of approximately 350 meters, making it accessible to a wide range of people, provided they are accustomed to moderate-length walks.

Eleven food stops are planned along the route, located at various points throughout the valley. Each stop will offer the opportunity to sample specialties prepared with local ingredients, highlighting local producers and businesses involved in the initiative.

The goal is not only to offer a series of tastings, but also to showcase the Ticino agri-food supply chain through direct contact with those who produce and process the raw materials.

Departures staggered to promote a relaxed experience

To avoid excessive crowding, the organizers have scheduled departures every fifteen minutes starting at 8:00 a.m. from the Rivera Sports Center.

This format will allow groups to spread out along the route, making it easier to visit the food stations and allowing for a more relaxed experience.

The organizers estimate a maximum attendance of around 800 people, a number that demonstrates the interest the event has already generated and makes advance booking advisable.

A project born from collaboration with the local area

The event is based on extensive shared work between local associations and volunteers, an element that represents one of the initiative's distinctive aspects.

AS Monteceneri, Carnevale Ciora e Salam, Pro Sigirino, the Filarmonica Unione Carvina, the Sci Club Monte Tamaro, the Amici di Camignolo and FC Rapid Bironico collaborate in the organization.

The involvement of diverse organizations highlights the desire to build an event that can become a regular fixture over the years, fostering collaboration between local organizations, associations, and stakeholders.

According to Roberto Ferrari, president of Sapori in Carvina, the aim is to transform the event into an opportunity to showcase the valley through its flavors, landscapes, and the hospitality of local communities, creating opportunities for citizens, producers, and visitors to meet.

Food and wine and slow tourism are increasingly prominent

In recent years, experiential tourism has become increasingly important in Ticino. An increasing number of events are combining the discovery of the region's natural heritage with the promotion of regional agri-food products, offering itineraries that combine outdoor activities with culinary culture.

Sapori in Carvina fits into this trend, focusing on the quality of local products and the opportunity to meet directly those who contribute to their creation every day.

The multi-stage route also allows visitors to be distributed along the entire route, promoting environmentally friendly use while also providing widespread benefits for the communities involved.

The event will take place on Saturday 12 September 2026 , starting from the Rivera Sports Centre.

The route will be 11,9 kilometres long , with a positive difference in altitude of approximately 350 metres , and will include 11 gastronomic stops.
