Pizza is playing an increasingly central role in the Swiss gastronomic landscape. This is confirmed by the official announcement of the second edition of Pizza Week Switzerland Edition, scheduled for from 15 to 21 June 2026, which will involve some of the most appreciated entities in the sector throughout the Confederation.
The event was presented on June 5th in Zurich during the second edition of “The Sovereigns of Pizza”, an event organised by Maistà Food which brought together restaurant professionals, journalists, producers, commercial partners and enthusiasts of the world of contemporary pizza.
A week dedicated to pizza culture
The initiative is a collaboration with 50 Top Pizza, considered one of the leading international guides specializing in the sector. During the Zurich event, founders Luciano Pignataro, Barbara Guerra, and Albert Sapere officially announced the return of Pizza Week Switzerland Edition, confirming the growing interest the sector is experiencing in Switzerland as well.
For seven days, participating pizzerias will offer a calendar of events designed to showcase not only the final product, but also the artisanal work that goes into it. The public will be able to participate in special dinners, guided tastings, collaborations between pizza chefs and guest chefs, pairings with select wines and beers, and sample creations developed specifically for the occasion.
The goal is to create opportunities for industry professionals and consumers to meet, fostering the spread of a gastronomic culture that has evolved significantly in recent years.
The Swiss stage on the way to Madrid
Pizza Week Switzerland Edition 2026 is part of the international program promoted by 50 Top Pizza and represents one of the stages of the so-called “Road to Madrid”, the journey that leads to the ceremony dedicated to the best European pizzerias.
The final event is scheduled for June 29th in the Spanish capital, where awards will be given to the brands that have stood out most throughout the year.
Switzerland's presence within this international circuit testifies to the consolidation of a movement that in recent years has grown both in quality and in terms of public attention.
Diego Vitagliano among the most anticipated guests
Among the protagonists of the opening day in Zurich was Diego Vitagliano, considered one of the most influential names in contemporary pizza at an international level.
In his speech, he addressed some of the issues shaping the sector's evolution: the pursuit of quality raw materials, the importance of professional training, respect for tradition, and the ability to innovate without losing touch with one's gastronomic roots.
These topics reflect the expectations of a clientele increasingly attentive to the origin of ingredients, the sustainability of production, and artisanal workmanship.
Ticino among the protagonists of the 2026 edition
The presence of Ticino in the list of selected pizzerias is particularly significant.
Among the restaurants taking part in the Pizza Week Switzerland Edition are Acqua e Farina, Autentiko e Verace in Lugano, as well as Osteria Ticino da Ketty & Tommy in Ascona.
This participation confirms the Canton's growing role within the national gastronomic landscape and will offer local enthusiasts the opportunity to experience numerous events up close without having to travel beyond the Gotthard Pass.
