The Environmental Observatory of Italian-speaking Switzerland (OASI) is a tool conceived and developed by the Department of Territory, which in 2002 deemed it necessary to promote permanent environmental monitoring for the Canton of Ticino. This resulted in the creation of a cutting-edge, transparent, and easily accessible data management system. Over time, this resource has provided a better understanding of the relationships between environmental phenomena and the impact of measures adopted to reduce pollution. At the same time, it has improved public information and made it easier for the population and political authorities to access accurate and up-to-date environmental data.
The Möbius Prize
The Möbius Prize, which reaches 2021 years of existence with the 25 edition, underlined the pioneering momentum of the project and its continuity in proposing innovative solutions to monitoring and information needs. To symbolize this homage, a sculpture representing the Möbius strip was delivered today by Bruno Oberle - Director of the Federal Office for the Environment from 2005 to 2015 - to Giovanni Bernasconi and Marco Andretta, respectively creator of the project and responsible for its implementation.
