It is probably this sentence of Steve Jobs, founder of Apple, which inspires the activities of the Ticino Blockchain Technologies Association-TBTA (tbta.ch) and of its president, professor James Poretti, researcher at the Department of Innovative Technologies of the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland-SUPSI, and is now preparing to direct the initiatives of the new associates who, during the conference “Blockchain & ESG – growing together” held at the Villa Ciani in Lugano announced their participation to the media.
But let's go in order and let's start with the Ticino Blockchain Technologies Association-TBTA.
A quick examination of the members confirms that it is also thanks to their networking in the field of digital projects that the Canton of Ticino is proving to be an irresistible pole of attraction for the new artificial entrepreneurship in full development in the southern European macro area.
And given that even in digital activities nothing is created, nothing is destroyed, but everything is transformed, let's try to clarify how, why and above all who are the protagonists of the digital spring in Lugano.
One fact is certain: artificial entrepreneurship is returning the Canton of Ticino to its function as a safe.
No longer only of assets, but of very precious artificial skills, the development of which fortunately is insensitive to the current global shortage of raw materials.
Up to now, the dynamism of the twenty members of TBTA has stimulated the attractiveness of the Swiss-Italian-speaking region, among which, in addition to the municipal administration of Lugano and the Chamber of Commerce (CC-Ti), we find some of the most dynamic digital entrepreneurs present in the area .
All this for now, but only for now.
Because in recent days TBTA, we said, announced the arrival of two new associates with offices already operational in the city district.
Let's start with the first, give it Swiss Institute for Alternative Thinking, represented in the Lugano conference by its director, Professor Crenguta Leaua. The latter, recalled that tokenization, the evolution of traditional legal privileges in paper form into IT rights, transfers into the artificial universe honors and burdens that we already know in current practice and that, having accepted the innovation in form, we must also however continue to comply.
Professor Leaua, lecturer in Comparative Law of International Arbitration at the University of Bucharest, Romania, is co-owner of the LDPP law firm, recognized among the top 100 in international arbitration negotiations; since 2007 you have been a permanent presence in Who's Who Legal ”, the register of excellence in the legal field worldwide. We also recall that in 2022 she was a lecturer for the course "Disputes and Arbitration in the Blockchain Ecosystem" in the first Summer School of Lugano-Plan B.
Another new member of excellence in TBTA is the ESG-Center of Excellence, which on the occasion of the Lugano presentation anticipated that it was preparing a conference that will take place in the city of Ceresio.
Summarizing the description but not the value, the objective of the ESG Center of Excellence is to convert the achievement of those environmental priorities into economic values that until the beginning of the pandemic, public administrations still considered program objectives.
Times have changed, we know it, and now they require concrete results.
Consequently, just as the global socio-economic situation feels the need to make up for the deficits created by the epidemic, and not only by them, the academic world and international research centres, the conscience of the world, are at work and are concentrating on shared objectives as much as possible.
How? By innovating the recipes of the past, which until now had seen industry, administration and society each set out on their own paths.
This clarification brings us back to the theme of the conference: “Blockchain & ESG – growing together”.
The blockchain, the worldwide decentralized chain of computerized public registers, today "allows you to clearly show the public opinion” Professor Poretti specified, “all activities take place thanks to its use”: this launches a new ecosystem which, when its economic value has been identified, simplifies the exchange of a given service.
This theme was also developed by Professor
Mark Casanova , lecturer in Reputation & Branding at the Competitiveness and Communication Department of the Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz-FHNW, and co-founder as well as co-director of INBREC-International Brand & Reputation Community-INBREC, one of the most authoritative international think-tanks in public consultancy administrations, bearers of social demands, stakeholders, and to the business world, on the reputational and image effects in the evolution of the respective development models. “The added value of the collaboration of these three actors”, Professor Casanova clarified,” it comes precisely from their exchange and innovative sharing of ideas, methodologies, interests, perspectives; this is what creates that open innovation ecosystem necessary for the future of the global community”. The common denominator in the dialogue between these apparently divergent needs is the blockchain, in this case the unifying element of theory, practice and social consensus.
Finally, last but not least as speaker, the Professor also dwelt on this topic aditya singh
, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ESG Center of Excellence, and Director of the prestigious Athena School of Management in Mumbai, the financial capital of India, among the top twenty business schools of the country. Transforming the realization of climate imperatives into NFTs and blockchain technology, that is, summarizing them in digital certificates and allowing their financial handling by guaranteeing it with artificial and decentralized registers, transforms ESG activities into tradable investments by an international market of potential investors: public, private, and also institutional, now ready to commit themselves economically to sustainable finance.
"In 2021, the global value of green bonds reached half a billion dollars; by 2030 it is estimated to reach 53 billion, and will affect a third of world savings. Consumers, especially the new generations, will drive ESG finance more than institutional investors. Today, concluded Professor Singh, “83% of millennials, the current twenty-five to forty year olds, are interested in ESG because they are aware that our planet's resources are limited. The blockchain will help these types of investments to secure financial references, obtain a credit history, useful both for economic realities and also for medium-sized investors. Consequently, in this perspective, the blockchain announces itself as a unifying, distinctive and proactive factor for future economic activities".
