The Lugano Golf Club achieved an important victory in the B2 series Swiss Interclub Women's Championship, held last weekend on the picturesque Magliaso course. The competition, which took place over two days of competition under a scorching sun, saw the participation of 16 teams from all over Switzerland, ready to compete for the coveted promotion to the B1 series.
The demanding challenge took place over 36 holes, where the technical skills of the players were put to the test by the difficulties of the course, designed by architect Donald Harradine. Despite the particularly difficult weather conditions, the home team managed to emerge with an extraordinary performance, thus securing promotion.
Golf Club Lugano: a winning team
The credit for this victory goes entirely to captain Alexandra Puffi and her teammates Natasha Bogojevic, Mimmi Guglielmone, Victoria Puffi, Ludovica Realini and Carlotta Scialanga, who demonstrated determination and team spirit. Thanks to their preparation and winning strategy, the Lugano Golf Club was able to excel over the other 15 Golf Clubs in the competition.
The competition opened with the foursome formula on the first day, where the couple Anouk L'Hôte and Estelle Boissieu from Golf Club Esery achieved the best result with 82 shots. However, it was the second day that decided the fate of the tournament, when Elodie Avayou, also from the Esery Golf Club, scored a score of 75 shots, beating the rest of the almost 100 participating players. Despite the brilliant performances of their opponents, the perseverance and skill of the athletes of the Lugano Golf Club allowed them to achieve the final success.
An event of national importance
The event represented a moment of great visibility not only for the Lugano Golf Club, but also for the Ticino region. The influx of teams from all over the country has helped to promote Magliaso as an ideal summer destination, capable of offering not only a high-level golf course, but also a warm welcome for all participants and their companions.
The victory of the Lugano Golf Club in this prestigious tournament is not only a sporting success, but also a source of pride for the entire local community. With the arrival in series B1, the club is now preparing for new challenges, with the aim of consolidating its role as a protagonist in the national golf panorama.
Founded in 1923 along the Magliasina as a 9-hole course, the structure was expanded to 18 holes in 1969. The course, which covers an area of only 32 hectares - compared to the 50 usually needed for a course of this type - it stands out for its technical complexity and for the naturalistic context which makes it a true green oasis.
