Located in the southwest corner of Switzerland, where the lake flows into the Rhone River, Geneva is considered one of the cities with the highest quality of life in the world. Just outside this modern metropolis, close to the French border, is the beautiful Campo del Geneva Golf Club, founded in 1922. The first holes allow you to admire the city of Geneva and its lake, while on the south side the view of the Alps and Mont Blanc is truly breathtaking. It is about ten minutes from the city center and thirty minutes from Geneva International Airport, and its access by road is particularly easy.
The current course was designed in 1972 by the famous architect Robert Trent Jones Sr. in the heart of the magnificent wooded park of Bessinge. It is one of the few European courses built by this designer outside his main centers of expertise in Italy, Spain, Portugal and France. A complete refurbishment was carried out between 2016 and 2018, according to a design by Robert Trent Jones Junior.
The only 18-hole golf course in the canton of Geneva, the Golf Club is a private club open to visitors under certain conditions.
On the 46 hectares of Bessinge park, Robert Trent Jones Senior has built a magnificent varied and competitive course. Old oaks and cedars line the fairways or, as at holes 4 and 15, are directly on the line of play.
Several holes, such as number 2, number 6 or number 16 are particularly difficult to pass. Par 3, like holes 7 and 11, is long and defended by large bunkers. The round trip ends each with a series of three challenging holes. Thus 16, 17 and 18 have ruined more than one good score and the player has to deal with them with full concentration. Facilities include the 18-hole championship course, an indoor driving range, multiple putting greens, as well as short game practice areas and bunker exits. In addition, the Club is equipped with a snack bar, electric trolley, manual trolley, teachers, golf cart, approach green, small play area, club rental, proshop, putting green, club house with restaurant, conference rooms, changing rooms.
With an overall length of 637 meters, the Golf de Genève enjoys a consolidated international prestige and over the years has hosted famous tournaments, including the European Junior Championship in 1975, the Women's Amateur World Championship in 1982, several editions of the Swiss Open , and every year welcomes the Rolex Trophy, an important stage of the European Challenge Tour.
