Ticino is preparing to welcome running enthusiasts and nature lovers for an unmissable event: the San Salvatore Vertical mountain race, which will be held on Sunday 24 March. Thanks to the collaboration between the San Salvatore Funicular and Scenic Trail, the exciting foot race and the relaxing popular walk along the scenic trail offer a unique experience in the heart of the Swiss Alps.
The competition will begin in the square in front of the town hall of the municipality of Paradiso, with the runners ready to challenge the steep slopes of the mountain. The suggestive route winds through centuries-old woods and panoramic paths, offering breathtaking views of the Po Valley and the majestic Alpine peaks. While the race participants will compete against the clock, walkers will be able to enjoy the landscape without any rush, immersed in the tranquility of nature and ideal for families.
With less than 4 kilometers of route and a difference in altitude of approximately 600 metres, the event offers an experience accessible to all, culminating with a well-deserved refreshment for all participants. For those who wish to extend the experience, it is possible to book a lunch at the restaurant at the summit by calling 091 993 26 70, and then descend comfortably and free of charge with the funicular.
