The collection's movements and watches are subjected to both Chronometer and Master Chronometer tests, without the need for a second hand. For the first time in watchmaking history, a watch with two hands for hours and minutes has achieved Master Chronometer certification.
Since 1952, the Constellation has symbolized OMEGA's commitment to certified precision. The collection Constellation Observatory represents the next step in this tradition, with two new movements across nine references. OMEGA introduces the Constellation Observatory, the first two-hand watch to earn Master Chronometer certification and fully tested at the Laboratory of Precision. “Until now, precision certification required the presence of a seconds hand. The development of a new acoustic testing methodology has made this requirement obsolete. It is this innovation that has allowed us to introduce the Constellation Observatory, the first two-hand watch to earn Master Chronometer certification,” said Raynald Aeschlimann, President and CEO of OMEGA.
The OMEGA Constellation Observatory collection reinterprets OMEGA's signature design codes. The design concept draws inspiration from the 1948 Centenary, which laid the foundation for the Constellation. The twelve-sided "pie-pan" dial arrived shortly after the launch of the first Constellation, featuring the Constellation star at 6 o'clock and the Observatory medallion on the caseback. Guilloché finishing decorates the facets of the "pie-pan," a detail carried over from the early Grand Luxe models. The faceted kite-shaped indexes and "Dauphine" hands draw on earlier Constellation models. Dog-leg lugs were a hallmark of OMEGA models of the era. The nine-row brick pattern on the 18K Moonshine™ gold mesh bracelet is inspired by the classic "brick" bracelets that defined the Constellation's iconic early years.
The collection features two new calibers, each built on a skeletonized rotor base, polished or satin-finished bevels, a rounded outer section on the rotor, and an applied Constellation Observatory medallion. They are divided into three categories: Grand Luxe, Luxe, and Standard.
Il Caliber 8915 Grand Luxe equips the 950 Platinum Gold edition. It features an 18K Sedna™ gold rotor base with a refined spiral finish and a polished outer zone. The Observatory medallion is crafted from laser-engraved 18K white gold, featuring a dark blue sky enameled with aventurine glass and embellished with eight stars. The observatory dome is filled with translucent white opaline enamel.
Il Caliber 8915 Luxe, Designed for the 18K gold collection, it features, for the first time in OMEGA's history, an 18K Moonshine™ gold rotor and balance bridge, in addition to the usual 18K Sedna™ gold. The base of the rotor features a Côtes de Genève pattern in arabesque, with a horizontally brushed outer section. The medallion is crafted in a matching 18K gold variant, with laser-engraved elements and contrasting matte and polished finishes.
Il Caliber 8914 Standard It is a version of the Calibre 8915 Luxe with a rhodium finish, and brings the O-MEGASTEEL watches to life.
There are four 18K gold variations, each developed to achieve a perfect expression of the metals. The creations, entirely in 18K Sedna™ or Moonshine™ gold, combine a case, hand-guilloché dial, and movement, and are available with a leather strap or bracelet.
The gold model Canopus Gold™ 18K combines a clean watch aesthetic with a decorated 18K Sedna™ gold movement, visible through the caseback. The Platinum Gold edition completes OMEGA's precious metals repertoire, bringing together all four of the brand's proprietary precious metal alloys in a single collection for the first time.
Four editions are crafted from OMEGA's exclusive steel alloy, selected for its hardness and mechanical properties. The collection introduces a black ceramic pie-pan dial: a major technical achievement in dial production, requiring considerable development to precisely craft the dodecagonal ceramic shape. Three references also feature colored dials with printed fluting.
