Smart has long been undergoing a profound overhaul, establishing a new identity focused on electric mobility and a range of contemporary crossovers. At the pinnacle of this transformation is the #5, the largest model ever made by the brand, which in its Brabus guise reaches new heights in terms of both performance and personality. Here, the sporting tradition of the German tuner Brabus merges with electric innovation to create a car designed to excite the driver while simultaneously ensuring comfort, versatility, and great range.
Brabus, alongside Smart for over twenty years, brings in this #5 – proposed in Ticino by Winteler – all its expertise gained since 1977: a technical and stylistic contribution that affects every aspect of the car, from the mechanics to the design, right down to the interior furnishings. The dual electric motor has been increased to a total of nearly 650 horsepower, with one engine for each axle: a configuration that ensures all-wheel drive with electronically controlled variable torque distribution, for engaging driving dynamics that always ensures maximum traction.
The lithium-ion battery with NMC chemistry offers a net capacity of 94 kWh, enabling a range of up to 540 km in the WLTP cycle, among the longest in its class. Ultra-fast charging up to 400 kW allows a 10 to 80 percent charge in just 18 minutes, making the #5 Brabus ideal for even the longest journeys. The technical package is completed by a specific suspension that combines sportiness and bump absorption, dedicated brake calipers, and 21-inch Monoblock Z alloy wheels.
A mid-to-large electric crossover – measuring 4,69 meters in length – the Smart #5 is also available with rear-wheel drive and power outputs starting at 340 horsepower. The design is distinguished by flowing, smooth surfaces that enhance a sharp, confident front end, while the compact yet muscular rear end reinforces the dynamic and captivating overall appearance. The Brabus version further accentuates the sporty character with dedicated features such as side skirts, prominent wheel arch trims, and contrasting red details, which enliven the exterior with vibrant, bold touches.
The same color contrast also animates the interior, where premium materials, meticulous finishes, and cutting-edge technological solutions define an exclusive environment. In addition to the digital driver display and the practical head-up display, two large 13-inch high-resolution touchscreens stand out: the central one dedicated to managing on-board services, from navigation to climate control, and the one in front of the passenger for entertainment, which can be used without interfering with driving. Completing the premium experience are the Sennheiser Signature sound system and the luminous Halo panoramic sunroof.
