«The aerodynamic design of the 812 Superfast is part of a trend of continuous improvement in the performance of Ferrari models, aimed both at speed performance and at enhancing the dynamics of the car to enhance driving sensations. The development guidelines were the achievement of high aerodynamic efficiency values obtained by increasing the vertical load functional to the driveability of the car, without compromising its resistance. The values of the aerodynamic coefficients achieved by the 812 Superfast mark a decisive step forward compared to those of the F12berlinetta. The mobile aerodynamic solutions, both activated mechanically (active mobile aerodynamics) and by the pressure itself from the air (passive mobile aerodynamics), guarantee very low resistance values. On the side of the air inlets dedicated to the cooling of the powertrain and brakes, the front bumper has been equipped with a "turning vane", whose function is to channel and direct the flows that impact the car in the front and keep them adherent to the side , reducing the car's wake width with significant advantages in reducing the car's drag. «In setting the development of the engine, the Ferrari engineers set themselves the goal of further increasing the specific power of the 12-cylinder of the F12berlinetta. To achieve this, they decided to concentrate their efforts above all on optimizing the intake system and on combustion efficiency in order to make the most of the increase in engine displacement which goes from 6,2 to 6,5 liters. These factors in fact allow to increase the maximum air flow processed by the engine, improving its efficiency. The results made it possible to reach the power of 800 hp at 8.500 rpm, which is the new maximum reference for the Ferrari range, and a specific power of 123 hp / l, never reached on engines mounted at the front of production cars ».
