The Maserati Grecale presents itself as the perfect synthesis between sportiness and elegance, a double soul characteristic of the specimens of the Maserati range. Luxury, conceived from a functional and innovative point of view, is expressed in true driving pleasure, also thanks to the versatility of use of the car.
Whether it is a question of tackling the city or in the case of long distances, Grecale in fact lives up to the expectations of sportsmanship. Alongside the hybrid and petrol solutions, the electric powertrain has a 105 kWh battery with 400V technology. The engine reaches up to 800 Nm of maximum torque, for the happiness of those who want to have a Maserati in their hands in all respects. The power reaches 544 horsepower (400 kW) and the peak speed breaks down the 200 km/h barrier.
From the point of view of external design, the main peculiarity is represented by the front area, where the grille is low and imposing. The side view underlines the stark contrast between the sinuous silhouette and the new generation technology. Behind, on the other hand, the eye is caught by the boomerang-shaped light clusters with trapezoidal lines, a concept re-proposed in many parts of the car body. Compared to the GT, the Grecale has a 34 mm wider rear track. In any case, the extensive use of carbon fiber allows the overall weight to be kept under control.
An exclusive of Greek Maserati is the Rame Folgore shade attributed to the exteriors. The color comes from a long and meticulous work by the designers, who drew inspiration from the facade of the Guggenheim in Bilbao. The tint changes in relation to external conditions, going from copper in case of exposure to the sun to bluish gray in shaded areas. Iridescent pigments allow for a final glance of undoubted impact.
Inside, the quality of the materials stands out, according to Italian craftsmanship, known and appreciated all over the world. You breathe harmony and a "living" effect, given by the introduction of soft lighting. There are four displays: the usual cluster, a central 12,3” screen and an 8,8” comfort screen, the digital clock. The sophisticated systems are designed with functionality as a priority. Thus, for example, the digital clock, an absolute novelty for the Trident, constituting a bridge between the driver and the electronic brain. In addition to sending a response signal in case of a voice command, it can transform itself into various gadgets, a compass or a G-force meter. Audio receives equal consideration. Edited by Sonus faber, an authority in the field, it provides for two degrees of customization. The highest features 21 speakers and the three-dimensional sound has a total output of 1.285 watts, for an immersive experience.
The Maserati Intelligent Assistant multimedia system, also known simply by the acronym MIA, has a 12,3-inch display with a resolution of 15 million pixels in Ultra HD. Although the Modenese car manufacturer has accustomed its customers to the best, this is a result never achieved up to now. The on-board electronic brain leverages the Android Auto operating system, so as to guarantee an impeccable experience for those who have smartphones with Google's operating system. In total, up to five different profiles can be configured. The adjustable items include the temperature and the position of the seat. Voice control gets the right emphasis, designed to avoid any form of distraction for those who get into the driving position.
You can stay updated on the conditions of the Maserati Grecale wherever you are, via smartphone, smartwatch or virtual assistant. Notifications are sent periodically and are a really valuable help to get a detailed picture of the situation. A dedicated support lends a valuable hand in the event of an emergency, breakdown or theft of the vehicle. An evolution of the Chassis Domain Control Module (CDCM), the Vehicle Dynamic Control Module (VDCM) ensures full control of the car. Designed, built and calibrated in-house, the system is at the heart of Masah's new E&E architecture.
Thanks to the clear steps forward made by the designers, the selectable driving modes are very distinct from each other. Globally, there are five:
- Comfort: The best choice for everyday use. It features smooth gear changes, uses the engine efficiently, the suspension has reduced stiffness and the electric power steering provides maximum pleasure with minimum effort;
- GT: Pedal Map allows for optimal acceleration without compromising efficiency;
- Sport: pedal sensitivity and gear shifting are designed for top performance. The stance is lowered by 15 mm in Aero Mode and the steering wheel is stiffer and more responsive;
- Corsa (only in the Trofeo version): the pedals and the gear change reach even higher standards than in the Sport mode. Launch Control is active;
- Off-Road: from the limiter to the driving height (raised by 20 mm) each detail has the sole purpose of enhancing off-road performance.
