Historic Formula Show brings a unique, epochal event to Lugano! For the first time in Switzerland, on 2 and 3 September, enthusiasts will be able to experience the pure emotion of the legendary vintage races firsthand

The Historic Formula Show aims to revive the golden years of open-wheel motor racing, bringing together in a single, elegant setting about thirty cars that made history from the post-war period to the 80s, in a unique location: the patio of the Town Hall.

This symbolic place will host the cars of the collection privately owned by the heirs of Silvio Moser, the first from Ticino to score points in the Formula 1 world championship, in the years from 1967 to 1971. The Ensign N177 will also be on display in the patio, a single-seater in which the Ticino driver Clay Ragazzoni scored points in 5 Grand Prix in the 1 Formula 1977 World Championship.

Saturday September 2th

11:00 Official opening at the patio of the Town Hall of the City of Lugano.

11:30 – 17:00 Guided tours with the experts of the historical formulas.

11:30 – 17:00 Historic Formula Simcup Ticino: in collaboration with AKR Sim Racing and Matrix E-sport Arena, 2 driving simulators will be positioned to experience the thrill of driving a 761 March 1976 on the historic circuit of the Autodromo di Monza which was spread over 10 km and which also included the old satellite dish.

Sunday September 3th

10:30 – 12:30 Guided tours with the experts of the historical formulas.

10:30 – 17:00 Historic Formula Simcup Ticino

14:00 – 14:45    Christian Poggioni interprets the "greats" of Formula One
The Piazza della Riforma will host the well-known theater actor who will play the characters who have most marked the world of track racing, a show from which to let yourself be carried away, as if sitting on the side of the track, in the high and thin regions of passion and memory.

15:00 – 15:30   Live Parade: an unmissable parade on the Lugano lakefront of around ten of the cars on display. The route of the Live Parade of the Historic Formula Show will start from Piazza Manzoni and then parade along the entire lakefront of Lugano, up to the LAC roundabout.

Historic Formula Show: an absolute first in Switzerland

Historic Formula Show is an event that could only be born from the collaboration of bodies of excellence in the world of motorsport and vintage car racing: Master Class Motors, Historic Project, Associazione Sport Auto Ticino and by those who understand exclusivity , the Via Nassa Association.

The people to whom we owe the organization of this absolute "première" are: Marco Coppini, Franco Fraquelli, Jim Moser, Mauro Bernasconi, Luciano Arnold and Roberto Mazzantini
During the press conference Marco Coppini underlined how: “…The collector experiences the car world in a different way: cars are not a mere collector's item, a mere possession, but a real passion to be lived fully, occasionally even in track.

This event was born from a common effort and passion and has a completely new and particular spirit: it wants to put the man and his car back at the centre.
The pilots of the past were not tied to legal technicalities of the regulation and the races were not won on the basis of the irregularities of the others. Once the helmet was on, the only goal was to race to win.

Even the cars were all different from each other and each team had a car with aesthetic peculiarities: today if we paint all Formula 1 cars white, only an aerodynamics expert is able to distinguish them.
Even the teams worked differently, there weren't all the big groups that financed the teams: there was only one car that had to be kept and the drivers themselves invested money to be able to race. The objective was not the turnover, but the "Vittoria".

Jim Moser, in one of his speeches asserted that: “Even my father, Silvio Moser, was able to keep a car even for two or three years in a row and not only for survival purposes, but also because, having only one car any damage had to have time to be repaired before returning to the track with the risk of losing an entire season”.
Coppini again: “The riders were tough men, concrete but at the same time idealistic, especially as regards the competition. It is important to give a correct interpretation of these people, who invested time and money in a pure sporting passion that put their lives in jeopardy.”
The peculiarity of this event is that they are not "just" the "usual classic cars", but cars that competed, Formula cars that were seen – apart from collectors – only by those who attended the races of the time or who was lucky enough to drive them”.
