With the Genesis Scottish Open, the Korean automotive brand is once again demonstrating its strong commitment to the world of golf by supporting one of the most important tournaments that is part of the prestigious Rolex Series and is co-sponsored by the DP World Tour and the PGA Tour.
The fourth and final day of the mid-July tournament was characterised by weather that could be described as typically Scottish: temperatures just above 10°, a cold wind from the sea and even a little rain. This did not prevent the athletes present from thrilling the crowd with their best shots on a course in excellent conditions, with undulating and very fast greens.
To the great delight of the many fans in attendance, the tournament was won by Scotsman Robert MacIntyre who took victory with a final putt of almost 7 metres for birdie on the eighteenth hole, with a result of 18 under par, just one shot behind the second-placed Australian Adam Scott and two shots behind the Frenchman Romain Langasque in third place.
MacIntyre rallied strongly on the final nine, sinking a long putt on the 14th and eagled the 16th before finishing with a birdie on the 18th in front of a cheering crowd. He claimed his first Rolex Series title, taking home $1,58 million and a Genesis Electrified GV70. He is the second Scot to win the home event after Colin Montgomerie in 1999.
With his victory, MacIntyre also won the Jock MacVicar Association of Golf Writers Memorial Award, which is given to the best Scottish player, ahead of Connor Syme who finished 15th at 12-under par and Grant Forrest who finished 39th at 8-under par. Of course, by winning this tournament, MacIntyre also climbs up the world rankings, also finding himself in the top positions in the Race to Dubai.
At the end of the tournament, Robert MacIntyre presented himself to the guests of the Genesis Lounge with the trophy he had just won and recounted the emotional moments he experienced playing the final holes. He recalled that in 2023, Northern Irishman Rory McIlroy had snatched the victory from him by just one shot and his great dream of winning the title on home soil had remained in the drawer. So this year, before leaving for the final round, MacIntyre had said to himself: «Head down and work hard», that is, put your head down and give it your all, adding that «there was only one thing I could do and that was to fight until the end, giving 110% to succeed». The fact of being able to count on the home crowd gave him further impetus, «I felt that 95% of the spectators were there for me and supported me».

At the start of the sixth hole, a sofa for two people was placed to watch the shot executed by the professionals even more closely.
