The OMEGA brand is preparing to be the Official Timekeeper of the Olympic Games for the 31st time. With this in mind, Raynald Aeschlimann, President and CEO of the group, presented the new Countdown Clock at the Port of La Bourdonnais in Paris, under the iconic beams of the Eiffel Tower, which will mark the hours, minutes and seconds until the opening ceremony on 26 July 2024.

To mark the occasion, Aeschlimann welcomed Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee, and Tony Estanguet, President of Paris 2024 and together they officially unveiled and started the Countdown Clock.

“There's always great energy and excitement,” he said Aeschlimann – when there is one year left before the Olympic Games. The athletes start dreaming and of course our timekeepers start finalizing their preparations. I am sure that Paris 2024 will be an event to remember”.

Thomas Bach he added: “Accurate and reliable timekeeping is crucial for the Olympic Games. For over 90 years, OMEGA ensured that athletes' achievements were accurately recorded so that they could be written in Olympic history. We are delighted to celebrate the unveiling of the Countdown Clock exactly one year from Paris 2024, together with OMEGA, our valued global Olympic partner.”

“As an athlete – he confessed Tony Estanguet – the last year before the Games is fundamental for preparation, I remember it as if it were yesterday. One year after the competitions, whether you are an athlete or a sports enthusiast, emotions start to grow and you think only of the Games. In the heart of the city of light, the Paris 2024 Games will be spectacular, iconic and memorable, and will be open to all. It's great to have a partner like OMEGA and participate in this countdown. Together, our dreams will get bigger!"

Clearly visible even from a distance and illuminated at night, the Countdown Clock is inspired by the emblem of Paris 2024, with a central flame surrounded by a golden circle.
The structure was custom built for the occasion and is set to create anticipation throughout the city.

Paris 2024 will mark the 31st occasion that OMEGA has been the Official Timekeeper of the Olympic Games since 1932. Throughout this time, the brand has developed and introduced some of the most important timekeeping technologies in sport, timing the dreams of the world's best athletes.
