Not only longevity, but also constant quality of life: with this objective the city of Lugano has announced its membership of the prestigious international City of Longevity platform. The announcement came during the symposium “The Aging Revolution. Science and Myths in the race for Longevity", jointly organized by the scientific association BrainCircle Lugano, the Elderly Skills Center of the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI) and the Faculty of Biomedicine of the University of Southern Switzerland (USI).

The City of Longevity platform, created by Dr. Nic Palmarini, director of the National Innovation Center for Aging in the United Kingdom, aims to create an international network of cities committed to sharing ideas and policies aimed at benefiting older citizens. Lugano thus becomes the first Swiss city to join this prestigious group, which already boasts the presence of prominent urban centers such as London, Lisbon, Buenos Aires and Tel Aviv.

The accession of Lugano at the City of Longevity represents an important recognition of the proactive role that cities can play in promoting healthier lifestyles for their citizens and visitors. Mayor Michele Foletti and the President of the City Council Morena Ferrari Gamba proudly received the certificate of membership, a symbol of the city's commitment to an inclusive community attentive to the needs of all age groups.

Longevity is not just a question of years lived, but also of quality of life along the way. Lugano is committed to becoming a model of excellence in this area, promoting initiatives and policies that promote active aging and greater social inclusion for all its citizens.

By joining the City of Longevity, Lugano aims to become a beacon of innovation and good practices in the field of longevity and well-being of the elderly. By joining forces with other cities around the world, Lugano is preparing to face the challenges of the future, placing the well-being of all its inhabitants at the centre.
