Thanks to the allocation of 3 million francs for the purchase of fully electric cars, active since 2019, there are now 1.181 fully sustainable cars and 756 incentivized charging stations, for a total amount of almost 2,74 million francs paid out.
Credit is therefore running out and considering the impact generated by the mobility sector, responsible for about a third of energy consumption and CO2 emissions, and the willingness of the Swiss authorities to work towards a 100% renewable company, the Council of State has approved a message for the provision of a new credit of 11 million francs in favor of sustainable mobility for private citizens.
The funding provided for fully electric vehicles goes beyond the simple purchase of cars and extends to the acquisition of new fully electric motorcycles, quadricycles and tricycles, with a maximum speed exceeding 45 km / h, vehicles that increasingly offer a valid alternative to the use of cars.
For cars, an additional contribution to the sale of at least the same amount as the cantonal incentive will continue to be requested, which will benefit the buyer.
The intent of the new proposal is not only to encourage the use of electric vehicles in particular, but also to accelerate the replacement of old vehicles, with high CO2 emissions and highly polluting. To this end, incentives will be made available for the registration of new latest generation vehicles linked to the decommissioning of highly polluting cars, motorcycles, quadricycles and tricycles, incentives that can be added to those for the purchase of electric vehicles.
There will also remain incentives for the development of the private charging infrastructure, of fundamental importance for a gradual electrification of the vehicle fleet, encouraging the installation of charging systems for electric vehicles at home or with employers.
This credit intends to consolidate and give continuity over time to the guidelines for promoting sustainable mobility, in particular electric mobility. To this end, there is also the possibility of following up on incentive requests for fully electric cars and charging stations that will be received after the current credit of 3 million francs has been used up.
