The event unfolds as a multi-day tour, during which producers and wineries open their facilities to the public to guide visitors, enthusiasts, and tourists in discovering new vintages, specialty products, and the most recent interpretations of Ticino viticulture.
Tastings, meetings, and cellar visits
Open Cellars in Ticino isn't just about wine tasting. The program includes guided tours of vineyards and barrel cellars, opportunities to meet producers, themed workshops, and initiatives designed to showcase the region's diverse expressions.
Participants will be able to taste red, white, rosé, and sparkling wines, with a focus on the latest vintages, as well as niche labels, limited selections, and wines available exclusively at the winery. The experience is further enhanced by food, live music, and accompanying activities that transform every visit into a moment of connection and sharing.
According to the organizers, each winery interprets the event according to its own identity, building collaborations with cultural organizations, artisans, restaurateurs, and musicians. The goal is to offer an experience that unites wine, landscape, and human relationships, strengthening the bond between local production and community.
Sustainable mobility and improved accessibility
The 2026 edition introduces important innovations in terms of travel, with the aim of promoting a more sustainable and simple approach to reaching the wineries.
Thanks to the collaboration with BancaStato, SBB, and the Arcobaleno Tariff Community, a day pass will be available for CHF 15, valid on all public transport in Ticino and the Moesano area. The 2026 edition also includes an expansion of organized mobility options, with guided wine tours, dedicated shuttles, and themed itineraries designed to facilitate visits to multiple wineries on the same day.
Among the planned initiatives are:
- shuttles to discover the wineries of Malcantone, promoted by Lugano Region on May 16th and 17th;
- e-bike tours among the vineyards and wineries of Collina d'Oro and Malcantone, created in collaboration with Wine Up, InTicino, and Lugano Region;
- Shuttle bus services organized by OTR Bellinzonese e Alto Ticino on the weekend of May 23 and 24.
These solutions aim to make the experience more seamless, reducing the use of private cars and encouraging integrated use of the area.
An institutional network to support the sector
The initiative is presented by Ticinowine – Swiss Wine Ticino and is taking place with the involvement of numerous institutional and territorial partners, including Ticino Turismo, the Regional Tourist Organizations, HotellerieSuisse Ticino and the mobility partners FFS and Comunità Tariffale Arcobaleno.
Coordination is entrusted to the Ticino Interprofession of Vine and Wine and the Ticinowine Commission, based in Morbio Inferiore. The shared objective remains the enhancement of the canton's winemaking industry, the promotion of local excellence, and the strengthening of dialogue between producers and the public.
