In the framework of the development policies of the quality tourism in Lugano, the hospitality sector returns to the center of territorial strategies. Leading this path is theDuck Turistico del Luganese (ETL), which recently concluded the first cycle of the project “Lugano Region Ti Conosco”, an initiative designed to strengthen skills and awareness of operators of accommodation facilities.
This initiative is part of the mandate defined by cantonal legislation, which assigns the ETL a key role in informing and advising visitors. This activity goes beyond direct contact, but accompanies guests throughout their stay: from planning to their stay, right up to their return.

Training and knowledge of the territory
The project is based on the idea that the quality of the tourist experience depends largely on the preparation of front-office staff. For this reason, "Lugano Region Ti Conosco" has provided operational tools and updated content to improve knowledge of the region and the ability to orient visitors.
The meetings, held at the Lugano Info Point on Via Magatti, addressed various aspects of hospitality: from organizing information services to practical tips for managing guest relations, and highlighting the region's main attractions and activities.
The chosen format was intentionally interactive, with opportunities for direct discussion between operators and tourism information managers. This approach fostered the exchange of experiences and best practices, helping to build a shared knowledge base.
A positive first assessment
The first cycle consisted of eight sessions, involving a total of 68 participants from 24 facilities spread across the various districts of Lugano: from the city center to the Capriasca, Ceresio, Malcantone, and Vedeggio areas.
According to the ETL, the response has been overwhelmingly positive. Operators have shown interest and participation, a sign of growing attention to hospitality as a distinctive aspect of the destination.
The data confirms a well-established trend: in today's competitive environment, the quality of hospitality is a key factor in building visitor loyalty and differentiating the offering.
Development prospects
In light of the results obtained, Duck Turistico del Luganese plans to expand the project with new training courses. The goal is to gradually expand participation and strengthen the collaborative network among industry stakeholders.
Investing in training is considered essential to ensuring a consistent, authentic tourist experience that meets the expectations of an increasingly demanding audience.
A strategic vision for the destination
The project is part of the broader vision of Lugano region, which aims to consolidate its position as a leading destination in Switzerland and international markets. Four pillars have been identified: sports and nature, art and culture, food and wine, and the MICE sector.
Alongside promoting its offerings, the organization continues to develop visitor assistance and information services, as well as managing and enhancing the area's hiking and cycling network.
In this context, strengthening the skills of operators is a crucial element. Because quality tourism in Lugano depends primarily on the ability to welcome, guide, and communicate the region with professionalism and consistency.
