What are the reasons that led you to create this event for Mendrisiotto and Basso Ceresio?
"Promoting the territory, its history, the people and places that make the Mendrisiotto tourist region unique and therefore encouraging visits, is the task performed by the Regional Tourism Organization. The transmission of values, as well as that of the people who have lived in this corner of Italian Switzerland is among our work objectives that, over the years, has managed to develop an interesting network of collaboration with territorial partners and to position the tourist offer of this region."
What does this new theatrical experience consist of?
«The new “Theatrical walk on the trail of the girl thief” in 2025 was prepared in close collaboration with the writer Marco della Bruna and with Ettore Chiummo and Davide Gagliardi, the artists who took care of the theatrical adaptation and will follow the direction. These theatrical walks were born from the desire to combine the discovery of the territory and an unusual theatrical experience inspired by a book that has been very successful in the Canton of Ticino and beyond, entitled “Il ladro diragazze”, by Carlo Silini».
How does the plot of the story connect to the history of your area?
"The story is linked to a legend, that of the Wizard of Cantone, who, according to tradition, had taken possession of the "La Rossa" estate, a small palace leaning against the slopes of Monte San Giorgio in the hamlet of Cantone, where he imprisoned young women in a cave. The setting is dark and the story grim and represents a Mendrisiotto very different from what it is today. The 2025 route has been completely revised and designed with the aim of allowing participants to walk along the entire itinerary and there will therefore no longer be sections to be covered by bike, as in 2023".
What should those who intend to participate do?
«The meeting point for all editions is at the bus stop at Cantine di Mendrisio and the walk, which has a total duration of 2h30, includes about ten stops, where the actors will propose their performances and a visit to the Valsangiacomo winery, where a wine tasting is planned. The appointments for this experience are set for Sunday at 17.00:18 pm on the following dates: May 1, June 8, June 15, June 22, June 29 and June XNUMX.
