Cà Nani Small Boutique Hotel inaugurated, new jewel of the Albergo Diffuso Monte Generoso

Yesterday – October 15, 2024 – in Casima, on the right bank of the Muggio Valley, the official inauguration of Cà Nani Small Boutique Hotel was celebrated. A small and delightful accommodation facility, which represents a further important piece in the Albergo Diffuso Monte Generoso (ADMG) project and constitutes a further element of development of the tourist accommodation offer within the Monte Generoso area.

This new structure is not only a welcoming point for travellers, but also a sign of rebirth for the area, where history, tradition and innovation blend together to create a unique experience.
Three years after the reopening of the renovated Osteria conalloggio La Manciana and the Ostello di Scudellate, which were followed by the inauguration of the Casa dei Gelsi in 2023 and the Alpe di Caviano in spring 2024, Cà Nani represents the fifth structure to affiliate with the Albergo Diffuso Monte Generoso, sharing its objectives.

The renovation work on the building, in the center of the small village of Casima that houses 6 double rooms, a small restaurant and a bar to welcome local customers, lasted a few years and the story of this project also speaks of passion and the desire to look towards new horizons. The owners of the building, Sonja and Giovanni Guastalla, decided to move to Casima in 2018 and renovated a house in the center to live there, with the aim of finding a more authentic contact with nature. Sonja is a family doctor and it was during her visits to Casima that she discovered that the historic building that now houses Cà Nani, once housed the "Osteria Antica", a much-loved place with a long history of conviviality that inspired Sonja and Giovanni to give new life to the place.

“Immersed in the tranquility of the Muggio Valley, we noticed the lack of a meeting point for the local community,” he said John Guastalla. “A void left by the closure of the village taverns that encouraged us to take an interest in reopening and developing a hospitality facility in the village.”

The renovation, respectful of the architectural traditions of the time, has thus led to the creation of an environment that embraces the essence of the past with an eye to the future. The meeting with Claudio Zanini, president of the Diffused Hotel Monte Generoso, has given further incentive to Sonja and Giovanni Guastalla who have thus decided to renovate the building and create a hospitality facility with rooms and catering, to be networked, sharing the spirit and objectives that aim to enhance the territory and create widespread hospitality opportunities, carrying forward a philosophy of hospitality linked to nature and tradition.

“Our dream – they say Sonja and Giovanni – has always been to create a place that would be a bridge between the history of the past and the modern needs of travelers. Thanks to the meeting with the Albergo Diffuso Monte Generoso project, we believe we can realize this vision, contributing to the sustainable and respectful development of our beloved territory”.

The president of the Albergo Diffuso Monte Generoso Society, Claudio Zanini, expressed great satisfaction for the opening of Cà Nani Small Boutique Hotel, underlining how this new structure represents a further significant development for the project. “Seeing another reality become part of our network is a source of pride – declared Zanini – “because it strengthens the vision of a widespread and sustainable hospitality that enhances the territory of Monte Generoso”.

A vision that seems to be appreciated also by other structures that are evaluating joining the ADMG and of which we will hear in the coming months. Andrea Cantaluppi, municipal councilor of Castel San Pietro, highlighted the importance of these initiatives for the hamlets of the Valley, on the one hand because they allow the renovation and repopulation of the core buildings, on the other because a quality tourist offer brings direct and indirect benefits also to the inhabitants of the district. He then recalled that the initiative that then led to the creation of the Albergo Diffuso Monte Generoso saw its beginnings in 2017 in the context of the meetings that favored the identification of the interventions deemed necessary to improve the reception and the tourist experience on Monte Generoso, recalling that "At the discussion table, OTRMBC and the representatives of the Canton and the Municipalities of Castel San Pietro and Breggia, had considered that in order to develop the hospitality and the development of small accommodation facilities, it would be necessary to network them with the aim of reducing the efforts and favoring the promotion of hospitality". Today's inauguration was also attended by Stephen Rizzi, Director of the Economics Division of the Department of Finance and Economy (DFE), who in addition to complimenting the promoters, underlined that "the Office for Economic Development, which has followed the Albergo Diffuso del Monte Generoso project since its inception and has contributed to the renovation of the Osteria Manciana, the Ostello di Scudellate and the Casa dei gelsi, as well as to the renovation and expansion of the accommodation offer of the Alpe di Caviano, has also supported this initiative because it is perfectly in line with the objectives of the cantonal tourism policy, which values ​​innovation and networking". Stefano Rizzi also highlighted how the Albergo Diffuso del Monte Generoso project, in its entirety, is allowing a peripheral region such as that of the Muggio Valley and Monte Generoso, to express all its great potential, obtaining enviable results in Switzerland and abroad.

“The project could only be started when the owners of the 3 structures, which had been initially identified, understood the validity of the project and started the renovation works of the individual structures, deciding to develop the Albergo Diffuso Monte Generoso project at the same time” recalled the director of OTRMBC Nadia Fontana Lupi who followed all the stages of development.
“For our OTR this was a very important moment because it concretised a vision that aims to enhance the territory and support the sustainable development of mountain tourism”.

With this new opening, the Albergo Diffuso Monte Generoso further consolidates its position as a reference model for sustainable and widespread tourist accommodation, capable of combining tradition, innovation and respect for the environment, creating value for the local community and offering visitors unforgettable experiences.
