The original building, called “La Margna Wing”, dates back to the early 20th century and was built in Engadine Art Nouveau style by architect Nicolaus Hartmann and retains a particular charm. The new modern wing, “Grace Wing”, with large floor-to-ceiling windows that maximize the view, it was designed by Divercity Architects with the help of interior designer Carole Topin.
Upon arrival, the reception desk is made of a block of fine-grained light grey granite from Soglio (Val Bregaglia), which is of great importance to the young but experienced General Manager Davide Frei:
«In my opinion the reception represents the best way Grace La Margna "This new hotel caters to a particularly discerning clientele with an offering that has previously been lacking in the St. Moritz hotel scene. It's not a traditional luxury hotel, but a Luxury Lifestyle & Boutique Hotel. Our service is attentive and personal, making guests feel at ease in a youthful and somewhat less formal atmosphere. We want to showcase a different perspective on the Engadin hotel industry. We're innovative, not only in the digital realm, but also instill a sense of simplicity, allowing guests to enjoy a relaxing holiday. We also have all the necessary facilities for families, including a large kids' club for children of all ages. Our guests come from central Switzerland, southern Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, and Scandinavia."
The hotel has 74 rooms and suites : 27 in the new Grace wing, 47 in the historic La Margna wing, and a penthouse (“Terrace Suite”) on the fourth floor with a large terrace and a beautiful hydromassage pool, offering particularly suggestive views of the surrounding mountains and the lake.
The spa area, spanning over 700 m², features a 20-meter indoor pool, various saunas, steam baths, and a relaxation lounge. It also offers a variety of treatments, a private Spa Suite, and beauty treatments using high-quality products. In addition to a gym with TechnoGym equipment, the wellness center also offers SONNENWIESE® treatments, which stimulate collagen formation and thus the skin's natural renewal processes. The result is a delicate tanning effect with a sunbathing sensation similar to being outdoors.
The dining options are wide and varied: The View offers Mediterranean cuisine, the internationally inspired Beefbar is for meat lovers, while Stüvetta Moritz showcases Swiss dishes like fondue. The common areas are particularly spacious and pleasant, well-lit; the living room features a beautiful fireplace, the lounge areas are always adorned with fresh flowers, and the panoramic terrace is furnished with outdoor furniture by Rugiano Design. The Grace Wing also boasts an artistic touch on the walls, adorned with photographs by Jürg Kaufmann depicting the snow-capped Engadine peaks.
Grace La Margna is not just a hotel, but an experience that seeks to reflect the best of the Engadin, its history, landscape, and Alpine lifestyle. Open year-round, unlike other luxury hotels, it is designed for both mountain and sports enthusiasts (skiing, hiking, etc.) as well as those seeking relaxation, wellness, fine dining, and culture.
