For 34 years now, we find ourselves at the table with family, friends, colleagues, in front of good food, which as always ranges from that with a typically local to international character, thus giving the Chefs the opportunity to indulge themselves as they wish.
Also for this edition, the collaboration with GastroTicino and the “Sapori del Ticino on the table” initiative is alive; in this way each participant undertook to propose at least one dish with Ticino products.

Gastronomy is a driving force for our canton and the fact of discovering new tastes, having a good time at the table, is part of the daily pleasures and emotions that we should not miss.

The participants of the Maggio Gastronomico Tre Valli and Bellinzonese

There are 27 participating restaurants, of which 26 from the Bellinzonese and Upper Ticino area and a guest from Lugano: the “La Torre” restaurant in Morcote.
This year there are 4 meeting places in the valley of the sun, 8 in Leventina, 2 in the Riviera, 12 in the Bellinzona area and the guest; among them some new ones, some returns but a large slice represents the hard core of the event and some are present from the beginning!

The homage

As for the gift, which will be delivered to those who will consume a menu or a dish among the proposals of the Review, we continue with the important novelty introduced in 2019 which consists in the enhancement of the products of our territory.

This year the proposal fell on a typical dessert of the region that is part of the Slow Food presidium: the shortbread pastries of the Bedretto Valley produced by Paul Forni's SwissCookies. Typical biscuits of this valley whose origin is not known but it is certain that they were already produced in the mid-nineteenth century. So at the end of each menu or dish proposed as part of the review you will receive a packet of shortbread.

Also for the loyalty homage, destined to the most loyal gourmets, we have given space to the products of the territory with a package of another dessert of the region: the Spampezia produced by the Pasticceria Schröder of Chiggiogna.

The Spanpezie, which are part of the Swiss Culinary Heritage, are large biscuits with walnut filling produced only in some villages in the Leventina which, among other things, have the peculiarity of being able to be stored for long periods.

To be able to receive it, you just have to remember to present your loyalty passport to the host at the end of each visit to be stamped; then the card, completed with four different stamps, must be delivered to one of the OTR Bellinzonese and Alto Ticino counters (Airolo, Bellinzona, Biasca and Olivone) by next 31 July.

Together with this gift, another nice surprise, always with relevance to gastronomy: a corkscrew and a drip catcher offered by Banca Raiffeisen Tre Valli which is our main sponsor.

All information can be found on the Maggio website, www.maggiogastronomico.ch, which was revised and updated on the occasion of the last edition; a necessary restyling that has certainly had its effect.
