We often hear repeatedly that Ticino "does", but little is "told", perhaps interpreting the concept of traditional Swiss confidentiality in an all too restrictive way.
It is therefore with great pleasure that Ticino Welcome has embraced the idea of the Agire Foundation to create a publication that, together with the first 10 years of life of this important cantonal institution, would finally give credit to the many excellences that make Ticino a land where, it can be said, innovation is home.
Our history is dotted with women and men who over time have given rise to successful initiatives, appreciated and recognized far beyond regional borders. But what struck me particularly, and cheered me up, reading these stories, is the young age of almost all the founders and protagonists of the star-ups presented here. A hope and a guarantee for our future.
Another element that I like to underline is the fact that in many cases they are entrepreneurs who have lived abroad and studied in prestigious international universities and research institutes. But then, they chose to give life and develop their own idea, solution or service, in Ticino, aware that our territory offers particularly favorable conditions for the growth of start-ups and innovative companies. This involves training, accompaniment, networking and, of course, also indispensable funding, especially in the initial stages of a project's implementation.
All this confirms, if still needed, that the “little” Ticino is perfectly capable of competing with the main regions of the world in terms of innovation, taking full advantage of all the opportunities offered by a modern, dynamic and stimulating ecosystem.
