Great enthusiasm for the LAC Lugano Arte e Cultura, which has seen two of its productions, La pulce nell'orecchio , directed by Carmelo Rifici, and La ferocia, directed by Michele Altamura and Gabriele Paolocà, among the finalists for the prestigious 2024 Hystrio Twister Award. This recognition, awarded by the public to a show seen during the 2023/24 season, once again underscores the excellence of Ticino theater productions in the Italian-language artistic landscape.

The Hystrio Twister Award stands out for its selection process, which consists of two rounds of voting. In the first round, a shortlist of ten titles is proposed by the editorial staff and contributors of Hystrio , a quarterly magazine of Italian theater and entertainment. The second round, currently open and ending on July 8th, sees the public choose the three finalist shows. The winner will be awarded during the final evening of the 2024 Hystrio Award, which will be held on Sunday, September 22nd at the Teatro Elfo Puccini in Milan, as part of the third edition of the Hystrio Festival.

The finalists

  1. la ferocia – Based on the novel by Nicola Lagioia, adapted by Linda Dalisi and directed by Michele Altamura and Gabriele Paolocà. This show, which boasts a high-level cast including Roberto Alinghieri, Michele Altamura, Leonardo Capuano and others, is a co-production between different theater realities: SCARTI Centro di Produzione Teatrale d'Innovazione, Elsinor Centro di Produzione Teatrale, LAC Lugano Arte e Culture, Romaeuropa Festival, Tric Teatri di Bari, Teatro Nazionale Genova.
  2. Christmas in the Cupiello house – A classic by Eduardo De Filippo, staged by Lello Serao with the participation of Luca Saccoia. This show for actors cum figuris is a production of Interno 5, Teatri Associati di Napoli, Fondazione Teatro di Napoli – Teatro Bellini.
  3. The flea in the ear – The famous comedy by Georges Feydeau, translated, adapted and dramaturgically revisited by Carmelo Rifici and Tindaro Granata. Directed by Carmelo Rifici leads a cast of talents such as Fausto Cabra, Alfonso De Vreese, Giulia Heathfield Di Renzi and many others. This production is the result of the collaboration between LAC Lugano Arte e Cultura and the Piccolo Teatro di Milano – Teatro d'Europa.
