February 8 marks the return of the “OSI al LAC” season with an extraordinary concert presented by the Orchestra della Svizzera italiana (OSI). Two masters of music, the conductor Juraj Valchua (in the header photo) and the pianist Piotr Anderszewski (alongside), will be the protagonists of an unforgettable evening at the LAC in Lugano.

The concert program, which will begin at 20.30 pm, embraces three centuries of emotions and reflections on the memory of pain. In its first Swiss performance, the OSI will present “These Words In Us” by Missy Mazzoli, a contemporary composition that explores the theme of pain through the words of an intense memory, inspired by the composer's father's experience during the Vietnam War.

The concert continues with Béla Bartók's Third Concerto for Piano and Orchestra, where the great Hungarian composer transforms his personal pain into a sublime musical expression. The piano will be masterfully played by Piotr Anderszewski, offering the audience a journey through the influences of Bach, Mozart and Beethoven.

The second part of the evening will be dedicated to the majestic Sinfonia Eroica by Ludwig van Beethoven, a symphonic masterpiece that exalts the myth of the "great Man". A composition which, in Berlioz's words, is a hero's funeral oration, an expression of nobly preserved grief.

The concert will be broadcast live on radio on RSI Rete Due (rsi.ch/rete-due), allowing a wider audience to share the emotion of this extraordinary performance.
