The wonderful musical quintet Les Vents Français is ready to enchant the audience of Lugano Music with an exceptional recital, Wednesday 10 April at 20pm in the LAC Theater Room. On this extraordinary evening, five virtuoso soloists - coming from the most prestigious musical institutions in the world - will come together to form a unique quintet, celebrating the harmony of woodwind and brass.
The ensemble Les Vents Français, composed of Emmanuel Pahud, Gilbert Audin, Radovan Vlatković, François Leleux and Paul Meyer, brings with it an enormous musical experience that draws strength from the individual mastery of each individual artist and the perfect fusion of their talents. As Pahud points out, each member of the group contributes his or her own experience as a soloist, chamber musician, orchestra member, conductor and teacher, thus creating a unique personality in the ensemble.
The evening's program is a fascinating blend of adaptations and original compositions for wind instruments and piano, ranging from the genius of Giuseppe Verdi and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart to the contemporary Philippe Hersant and the neo-Romantic Ludwig Thuille. You'll hear adaptations such as Verdi's String Quartet in E minor , transcribed for wind quintet, and Mozart's celebrated Quintet for Piano and Wind Instruments in E-flat major , K. 452.
The encounter between piano and wind instruments continues with Philippe Hersant's enchanting Osterlied , dedicated to Les Vents Français and pianist Eric Le Sage. The evening will culminate with Ludwig Thuille's Sextet for Piano and Wind Instruments in E-flat Major, Op. 6 , a Romantic work enchanting in its beauty and emotional depth.
Before the concert, director Etienne Reymond will present Philippe Hersant's piece, adding further details and insights to the already rich musical experience on the program.
