Ascona, Majid Foundation: “360 °” is the new solo show by Alexandra von Burg

All Majid Foundation, a really large collection will be staged, consisting of 130 paintings, enriched by two interesting and unusual testimonies of the very rare forays of the painter in the field of three dimensions: the bust-sculpture La Donna del Mare and the limited edition dedicated to The Warriors. In fact, on Saturday 2 July, at 18.00 pm, it will be inaugurated 360 ° the new solo exhibition of the painter Alexandra von Burg.
The exhibition, open until 31 July, will allow the public to retrace and appreciate the original creative research that made the Ticino artist known nationally and internationally and, above all, to preview the works created during the pandemic. still unpublished today.

Alongside the medium and small format paintings, large canvases will be highlighted, depicting ideal landscapes with a mysterious charm that transport us to a fantastic, luminous, reassuring atmosphere, to which the suggestive marine views that present us are counterpointed. in the presence of an uncontaminated, wild, proud and indomitable nature. Scenes of strong visual and emotional impact that invite you to immerse yourself in a reality suspended between real and imaginary, going back, with your memory, to your own personal experience and experience.

“This duplicity, this fusion of different and apparently opposite instances - explains the curator, Emanuela Rindi -, has always characterized Alexandra von Burg's entire career. In fact, her work escapes any possible traditional definition: her intense and passionate experimentalism leads her to range from figurative to abstract, from surface painting to an explicitly material rendering, from the choice of realistic subjects to graphic motifs full of powerful symbolic and vitalistic references that, over time, have given life to an iconographic repertoire that makes his works immediately recognizable ".

"The themes and subjects that are dearest to her, such as nature, landscapes, flowers, birds, symbols, the evanescent human figure - continues Rindi - recur, from work to work, however placing themselves in a relationship that is always new. They often go beyond genres, entering into compositions that we could consider mainly abstract or more figurative; they freely characterize very large and wide-ranging canvases as, at other times, very small and particularly precious formats; in some cases they take on the role of absolute protagonists of the painting, in others they go back to the background. It is a pleasant intellectual game to follow for those who have been with the artist for years. His images are lively, powerful, they live in contrasts and yet the individual details are arranged according to a well-calibrated architecture that encloses them in a precarious, dynamic, changeable balance. It is perhaps precisely in this pressing rhythm that it is possible to identify Alexandra's uniqueness, which she does not impose but suggests, offering ideas that will then be freely interpreted.

The artist, Alexandra von Burg

Alexandra von Burg was born in 1968 in Ticino, where he currently lives and works. Since 2001 you have been present at national and international artistic events.
His artistic career began in 2000 as a self-taught person, when his first painting experiences on silk soon flanked acrylic painting on canvas and mixed techniques in which he always experimented with new solutions.
In more recent years he has held several painting courses in his atelier in Tesserete and has embarked on the path of architectural decoration by creating several murals, large and with a strong visual impact, in public and private buildings in the Canton of Ticino.
Since 2002 she has been a member of the Ticino Painters and Sculptors Association, of which she was President from 2014 to 2021.
