In the context of Arte a Palazzo, the reflection on the theme of the comparison between past and present, between historical heritage and current artistic practices, of the Administration continues, thanks to the new temporary exhibition of the cycle “Dialogues”.

La Culture Division of the City of Lugano curated last year the new installation of the public spaces of Palazzo Civico with works from the city collection and by important artists living in the area, thus offering the population an opportunity to learn about the artistic and local context. The installations propose the encounter between works by artists belonging to different generations, but united by the same sensibility.

After the first dialogue between the works of Livio Bernasconi and those of Alex Dorici entitled “Geometrie”, in 2025 the works of Flavio Paolucci (1934) and Lisa Lurati (1989) will converse “On nature”. Both artists are inspired by the natural world to create a new dimension, without space and time.

The new exhibition will be inaugurated on Thursday 13 February at 18.00, in the City Council Hall.

“With this new installation – the deputy mayor and head of the Department of Culture, Sport and Events, Roberto Badaracco, told the press – we wish to invite citizens to enter the spaces of the Palazzo Civico to discover some works by internationally recognised local artists, in a historical setting of great charm and in the heart of our community”.

Flavio Paolucci (Tower 1934)

After attending the Cantonal School of Painting in Lugano, he continued his studies at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, where he graduated in 1957. His artistic research blossomed in Milan and matured through formal and conceptual research during his stays in Paris and Morocco. Flavio Paolucci's language remains linked to naturalism, which he declines in an abstract or conceptual manner, paying particular attention to the choice and combinations of materials which, together with the choice of titles, become an integral part of the creation. He regularly exhibits in solo and group shows in Switzerland and abroad and his works are present in the main cantonal art collections, and in national and international museums. In 2024, director Villi Hermann dedicated the documentary Flavio Paolucci. From Guelmim to Biasca to him.

Lisa Lurati (Lugano 1989)

After earning a bachelor's degree in photography at the CEPV in Vevey, she completed her studies in Basel, attending the master's degree in fine arts at the Institut Kunst Gender Natur (FHNW). She spent the first years of her artistic research in Berlin and since 2020 she has returned to Lugano, regularly carrying out residencies abroad. Lisa Lurati approaches these experiences as study trips and research into origins, both personal and universal. This essential and profound investigation finds expression in her works, which oscillate between an enchanted, suspended universe and a primordial call. Since 2014 she has participated in several solo and group exhibitions; her works are present in important Swiss collections and are selected in Kunst am Bau contexts.
