Before talking about the 200 exhibitors of Arte in Fiera 2026, it is important to say that the 49th edition of the Bologna exhibition in 2026, presents itself with a momentum of transition and innovation. With the debut of the artistic direction of Davide Ferri, supported by the operations director Enea Righi, the event aims to confirm its role as a point of reference for the Italian scene, without giving up a constantly growing international dimension.
The 2026 edition brings with it a refreshed vision: a renewed curatorial team, a completely redesigned modern art program, and reorganized thematic sections. The stated objectives: to consolidate the fair's Italian identity, highlight the most significant research of recent decades, and broaden the dialogue with new audiences.
With 200 exhibitors, Of which 174 gallery, 12 editors e 14 institutionsArte Fiera confirms its complex structure and its role as a platform open to the many directions of contemporary and twentieth-century art.
Italian identity and international openness
The title chosen for the 2026 edition, What will be, introduces a theme projected toward the future but marked by a margin of unpredictability. A formula that seeks to evoke the spirit with which collectors, enthusiasts, and practitioners observe the transformations of artistic practices today.
Alongside many returning artists, there are also significant returns and new entries. The result is a mosaic that reflects the multifaceted reality of Italian visual arts, enriched by European and overseas artists.
The Sections: Five Perspectives on Artistic Research
The curated sections, all by invitation, enrich the Main Section by focusing on specific languages and contemporary interpretations.
Photography and surroundings
Entrusted to Martha Papin, presents a path that intertwines photography, conceptual research and interdisciplinary contaminations.
Multiple
Curated by Lorenzo Gigotti, explores reproducible languages: graphics, artist's books, audio editions, design and new publishing forms, with a particular focus on the democratization of the market.
Painting XXI
Driven by Ilaria Gianni, brings painting back to center stage, analyzing its most significant practices from the 2000s to today.
Prospective
Edited by Michael D'Aurizio, is dedicated to emerging galleries and new generation research, through monographic presentations.
Twentieth+
The new project on modernity, entrusted to Alberto Salvadori, includes Italian and international works from the early twentieth century to the present day, with a particular focus on collecting as a cultural practice.
