Amgest SA has decided to collaborate with the archive of the great Swiss photographer Kurt Ammann, who recently passed away, to exhibit around twenty shots. The exhibition will begin right on the opening night, to which over a hundred guests are invited.
With an eye on wealth management and therefore on the communicative potential of art, Amgest SA will keep the exhibition of the works available to enthusiasts throughout 2023 (visits by private invitation only).
The Kurt Ammann exhibition commissioned by Amgest
The exhibition dedicated by Kurt Ammann, in the will of the curator Angelica Moschin and of Amgest SA, wants above all to be an ode to Switzerland, which is both Ammann's and Amgest's homeland and cultural matrix.
The protagonists of the shots on display are his unmistakable alpine landscapes, the Swiss Boy Scouts, the shepherds supported by the Red Cross, the healthy smiles of the boys who grew up in a still uncontaminated nature.
An eyewitness of a society recovering after the horrors of the Second World War, Ammann was able to grasp, with the typical energy of the younger generations, the new-found joie de vivre of the people who, having passed through the pain of the recently concluded conflict finally opened up to a future full of hopes and expectations. The clear-cut and essential style, formal elegance and compositional rigor of his works combine to ascribe the photographer to the Swiss current of the best art photography, which has exerted a worldwide influence on a par with design and architecture.
The obsessive attention to perspective, the wise use of light, the practice in the darkroom, and then the talent and the surprising framing: Amman's art is meticulous but also the poetry and kindness with which he portrays situations and subjects which are granted to him with an act of trust.
