Great success at the Versiliana in Marina di Pietrasanta, and soon also in Lugano, the exhibition “Spiriti Ostinati” which presents works by Matteo Pugliese, sculptures of pure energy. For centuries the human body has been a source of inspiration for sculpture and painting. Artists have always been passionate about seeking the most realistic representation, restoring the muscles, tensions and movements, but also the moods that the body expresses, weaknesses, energies, fears. Matteo Pugliese knows perfectly how to represent all this and this exhibition offers a collection of his works, as a sculpture from the Extra Moenia series and that dedicated to the Guardians. The first is a collection of bronze sculptures representing muscular men emerging from the walls with extreme strength, energy and tension. In the guardians, the themes of strength, power and corporeality are present, but in a completely different way from the first: for this series in bronze and terracotta, the artist was inspired by the stone guardians venerated by the Balinese animists and changing the traditional proportions a little, he presented sculptures with very large feet, determined and focused bodies, faces and gazes, and often with half-closed eyes, ready for battle.
Imago Art Gallery has chosen to participate in “WOP ART”, the first art exhibition dedicated to Works on Paper masterpieces (hence the acronym Wop). An exclusive art fair and Highlights, with a high-level reference public but above all avant-garde and highly cultivated. This refined event brought together in the pavilions of the Lugano Exhibition Center a selection of international galleries that exhibited specific projects of works on paper from all periods of art history, from ancient drawing to modern printing, from the artist's book to photography. author, from Japanese watercolors to papers by contemporary artists. A scientific committee took care not only of selecting the exhibitors and works on display, but also of coordinating events and meetings with intellectuals of international standing and creating major exhibitions dedicated to works on paper, within the nascent circuit around "WOP ART ". The development of attention and the art market over the last ten years has sanctioned the birth and growth of a large audience of enthusiasts and collectors around the so-called Works on Paper. The works on paper of the great old masters, modern or contemporary, allow to combine the high level of quality with development in accessibility in terms of costs.
But autumn also reserves other important innovations, starting with the great exhibition that in Pietrasanta will bring together important masterpieces by the Catalan master. The idea is to stage, in Piazza Duomo, an exhibition of monumental sculptures made in different periods. Retrospective that will also involve other evocative locations in the historic center, all of which are the Cloister of Sant'Agostino. So art returns with its great names to the center of the cultural offer of Little Athens.
