Reason for the award assigned by the Amici della Scala Lugano, the constant collaboration in the name of love for art and, in particular, for music.
On Sunday 18 December, during the Christmas dinner with concert, the Committee of the Association also included Giuseppe Rossi, director of the Hotel Splendide Royal in Lugano since 2008, in the list of its honorary members.
Mary Bernardasci, President and soul of the Association, recalled that “the Friends of the Scala Lugano have been meeting at the Splendide since the year of its foundation, 1981. The collaboration with Giuseppe Rossi was immediately stimulating: for each event organized in casa Splendide the manager was actively involved. Together with him we have organized concerts, musical evenings and singing events that have always highlighted his extraordinary hospitality.”
The acknowledgment went to the General Manager of the historic hotel in Lugano and, before him, it had been reserved for important personalities in the musical field, such as the tenor José Carreras and the conductors Riccardo Muti and Valery Gergiev.
Among the honorary members of the Association we also find exponents of the art world such as the sculptor Nag Arnoldi and the architect Mario Botta and Vittorio and Giuliana Ghidella, important patrons.
The Amici della Scala Lugano Association was founded with the intention of promoting culture by actively supporting the "Milano per la Scala" Foundation, as well as supporting young talents in the musical and theatrical fields.
