Over the years, the Garda DOC Consortium has carried out multiple promotional actions in Switzerland and this autumn event is part of a well-defined promotional strategy. Switzerland, in fact, plays a strategic role for the Garda DOC Consortium: in addition to being one of the markets that have most rewarded Lake Garda as a summer tourist destination, the country, second only to the German market, is also one of the target locations for the export of wines from the Denomination.
"Our association - said Anna Valli, president of ASSP - promotes and supports the event dedicated to the study of the terroir and the wine panorama of Garda DOC. An opportunity to update and get closer to the wine excellences of this area, where Garda DOC wines, already well rated and appreciated on the Swiss market, are the protagonists in this masterclass to better understand the unique characteristics of the territory and future prospects. An event made possible thanks to the Garda DOC Consortium, aimed at consolidating the link between the Swiss market and quality".
The report by Carlo Alberto Panont, director of the Garda Doc Consortium, illustrated – also with a particularly well-curated video – the typology of the DOC territories and their genesis. «Indicatively, the Garda system is represented by about 300 million bottles. Today the name Garda evokes its own home, in which there are the provinces and cities of Verona, Mantua and Brescia».

Perfect correspondence between the narration of the territory and the quality of the wines tasted in the masterclass. The ten wines were from the producers Riondo Collis, La Perla del Garda, Pratello, Cadis/Terre al Lago, Piona, Vitevis, Zenato, Ricchi, Gozzi and Cantina di Verona, also present to act as partners to the sommelier tasters.
The writer, also coordinator of the event, reiterated the importance of the study of Garda DOC: «Oenology, a driving force of the local economy and tourism, could not avoid this role and has taken on over time the responsibility in the world of being one of the best business cards for its production area. This sensitivity has been accompanied by the ability of producers to interpret the needs of the modern consumer, embracing his consumption philosophies, including attention to bubbles to be enjoyed throughout the meal or as an aperitif.
This new horizon, matured in a context of attention to the environment and enhancement of the local landscape heritage, is one of the most important challenges of the Consortium of protection that has completed the modification of the production specification with the inclusion of the white sparkling wine typology that, by decree, must report on the label only the name of the Garda denomination».

Anna Valli, president of the ASSP, thanks the Association of Swiss Sommeliers and the Garda DOC Consortium: «It should be remembered that Garda has many similarities with Lugano, with the lake that favors the cultivation of vines and is a popular holiday destination. Today we had the opportunity to taste excellent wines: the theme is very interesting, it seeks out and enhances the grapes that are grown. We talk about soils, terroir, exposure and, let's not forget, the hand of man».
The part of the reports was closed by Dr. Giovanna Prandini, producer of the company La Perla del Garda of Lonato, also president of Ascovilo and Silvano Ceolin, president of the newborn Italian Committee for the Protection of Ungrafted Vines which well illustrated the action of the association.
