There are 150 galleries that will exhibit their masterpieces in miart 2022. 21 countries represented in Milan from 1 to 3 April, thanks to the great international fair of modern and contemporary art organized by Fiera Milano.

April will be a month full of important events for the art world and for Milan in particular. In this context, Miart will be the first art fair of 2022 organized in Italy and among the first in Europe. It will be the second edition chaired by Nicola Ricciardi, who wants to strengthen the international scope of the event and puts the link with the city back at the center, once again playing a leading role inside and outside the exhibition center.

The fair, just seven months after the 2021 edition - exceptionally organized in September due to the covid-19 pandemic - officially opens its doors on April 31st, but the inauguration will be preceded by a VIP preview on March XNUMXst.

An unmissable event for the public and Italian and international collectors in search of the great masterpieces of the early twentieth century as well as the creations of the latest generations of artists and designers.

Miart 2022 once again welcomes all major Italian galleries and strengthens its international reach and overall quality thanks to several extraordinary newcomers and a solid group of galleries returning to Milan after a few years off. All projects have been carefully selected by a committee with the aim of presenting a coherent and orderly combination, promoting dialogues between galleries, iconic artists and new talents, honoring tradition and looking to the future.

The sections

There are three sections in which the galleries are organized:

  • established, the main section of miart which hosts, for the first time together, galleries that exhibit works of the most contemporary and those dedicated to the art of the twentieth century, without forgetting those active in the field of collecting and design design, offering a selection that ranges from the masters of the twentieth century to the most recent productions;
  • Decades, curated by Alberto Salvadori, which explores the history of the twentieth century through a succession of monographic projects dating from 1910 to 2010;
  • Emergent, curated by Attilia Fattori Franchini, presents young galleries whose programming focuses on the latest generations.

The goal of the 26th edition is to kick off a new phase, the first movement of a possible new symphony.

First movement, the theme of this edition

The first movement - theme chosen for this edition - refers to the "musical form in several parts" and represents the desire to speed up a sector that today, after a positive autumn season of international fairs, feels ready to lengthen its pace and take a leap in come on.

It will be this term to define a series of initiatives and collaborations with realities and institutions belonging to the world of music, dance, performance, aimed at ensuring that miart is first and foremost a stimulus to move, all together - gallery owners, collectors , artists, citizens and visitors - in search of the perfect performance of a symphony only possible through collaboration and cohesion.

The fair will also be the occasion for a new edition of Milan Art Week, the popular event - developed in collaboration with the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Milan - which has spread throughout the city celebrating the major local public institutions and private foundations. All the main exhibitions of the season are scheduled during the miart, including Elmgreen & Dragsetat Fondazione Prada, Artur Zmijewski at the PAC - Pavilion of Contemporary Art, Yuli Yamagata in Ordet and Steve McQueenat Pirelli HangarBicocca. In addition, it will be possible to visit the exhibitions already open in the city, such as the large group show on Tiziano and his peers at Palazzo Reale, Anicka Yi at Pirelli HangarBicocca, and Miriam Cahn at the ICA Foundation.
