A Thursday of Lions celebrates

Nine years of shared commitment, participation, and care for the local community. This is the result of "A Lion's Thursday," the charity event born from the collaboration between the four main service clubs in Mendrisiotto and Basso Ceresio: Lions Club Mendrisiotto, Rotary Club Mendrisiotto, Kiwanis Club Mendrisiotto, and Soroptimist International Club Mendrisiotto.

Over time, the event has grown to become one of the most recognizable solidarity initiatives in the region, engaging an ever-increasing number of people and transforming a collaboration between associations into a truly collective project. The foundation of its success is the work of volunteers, the participation of businesses and sponsors, the contribution of local producers, and the consistent response of citizens who have chosen to support the initiative year after year.

Nine years of growth and participation

The experience of Un Giovedì da Leoni demonstrates how synergy between diverse organizations can translate into concrete results. Over the course of its various editions, the event has successfully combined convivial moments with fundraising, always maintaining the central goal of supporting projects capable of generating tangible benefits for the local community.

The event thus became an opportunity for different worlds to meet: service associations, businesses, local producers, and citizens found a common space to share values and goals, strengthening their sense of belonging to the region.

Projects supported through fundraising

The funds raised supported three organizations active in different fields but united by the desire to improve people's quality of life.

Among the beneficiaries is Cà Stella of the La Main dans la Main Foundation, committed to supporting people experiencing fragility and needing support on their daily journey.

A contribution was also made to the Nipoti si diventa Association in Mendrisio, which promotes dialogue between generations through activities that bring young volunteers and older adults together. The goal is to create meaningful relationships and reduce the risk of social isolation.

Among the fundraisers' recipients is Riva Basket, a historic Mendrisiotto sports club that has invested for decades in the development of young athletes and the dissemination of the educational values associated with sport. The club is a key player in women's basketball in Ticino.

The checks were handed over to the beneficiaries during a meeting held at the Sant'Angelo Institute in Loverciano, attended by representatives of the participating associations and the initiative's promoters.

The role of sponsors and local companies

Such a significant achievement was possible thanks to the support of numerous economic partners who chose to support the initiative. Among those who contributed were BancaStato, Allianz, Ticino Wine, Merbag, Tertianum, Swisstecnology, Piccadilly, Fiduciaria Mega, Rhenus Logistics, and iRezz.

Alongside the main sponsors, numerous small and medium-sized businesses from the region offered their contributions, confirming a widespread appreciation for projects that generate positive impacts on the local community.

Promoting local excellence

A distinctive feature of the event is the participation of local producers. The presence of the Ticino Winegrowers' Association and numerous companies in the sector helped highlight the quality of local products, while also promoting opportunities for meeting and sharing.

This collaboration has strengthened the bond between solidarity and the promotion of regional excellence, enhancing the productive heritage of Mendrisiotto and Ticino.

A network that continues to generate value

Nine years after its birth, Un Giovedì da Leoni represents a concrete example of how the collaboration between or

Organizations with diverse goals can produce lasting impacts on the local community. Experience gained over time highlights the importance of creating networks that engage associations, businesses, and citizens around shared goals.

The four sponsoring clubs thanked everyone who has contributed to the initiative's success over the years, emphasizing how each participation, support, and collaboration has helped transform a shared project into a concrete opportunity to help the Mendrisiotto community.
