Culture and contemporaneity
The heart of the year was a calendar of meetings designed to explore the present through a variety of tools. From the evening dedicated to contemporary etiquette with Monica Iotti to the events developed in collaboration with USI, the University of Italian Switzerland, the underlying theme was always the same: focusing on the quality of relationships and choices.
Among these, the meeting "Love in the Age of Smartphones and the Spherical Economy," featuring Oscar Di Montigny, Professor Massimo Cerulo, and Professor Gabriele Balbi, moderated by Valentina Cravero, offered a reading of the economy as a system of connections and shared responsibilities.
This process continued with the conference "Stories of Diabetes: Between Life and Resilience," which brought the focus back to health, prevention, and quality of life. Reinforcing the value of these initiatives were the patronage of the City of Lugano, the media partnerships with RSI-Radiotelevisione svizzera and Corriere del Ticino, as well as Ticino Welcome, which helped to give visibility and relevance to a carefully and coherently constructed program.
Service and projects: when doing becomes impact
The Club's commitment has translated into concrete initiatives capable of generating real value.
Dolls for Hope , presented during the Charity Gala Night on December 19th in the presence of artist Ivano Facchetti at Palazzo Mantegazza, combined solidarity, education, and creativity. The dolls, made by students of SAMS – Lugano's School of Arts and Crafts of Tailoring, represent a project that goes beyond fundraising: it celebrates talent, manual labor, and the meaning of dedicated time.
Alongside this, the Club has supported national activities such as FotoWeServe , which uses photography to tell the story and support projects related to childhood cancer, and Water is Life , a historic initiative which, thanks to the partnership with Fonte San Clemente, promotes access to drinking water, an essential element for the dignity and health of communities.
A commitment that has also translated into support for global causes such as diabetes, childhood cancer and young people, confirming the Lions Club's vocation for concrete and responsible service.
Technology and responsibility: a necessary reflection
The relationship between innovation and awareness was also central to the event dedicated to artificial intelligence, once again hosted at USI. Featuring Alessandro Marrarosa, Raffaella Meledandri, Professor Luca Maria Gambardella, and Colin Porlezza, and moderated by Mattia Pelli, the evening addressed a central question: what role do we want to maintain, as humans, in an increasingly technology-driven environment?
The value of the relationship, even in its lightness
Alongside the in-depth discussions, the calendar also included opportunities for sharing, which are essential for strengthening the Club's spirit. The dinner show with Laura Formenti was a prime example: a moment that combined entertainment and connection, reminding us that even lightheartedness, when authentic and sincere, has its own value.
Concluding the journey, the meeting at Air-Dynamic offered a different, immersive, and inspirational experience. The visit to Lugano-Agno Airport, combined with Raffaella Meledandri's personal story, provided a glimpse into an entrepreneurial story of vision, determination, and perseverance. It was a moment that combined discovery, connection, and content, demonstrating how even the story of an individual's journey can become a source of inspiration.
A path that continues
Charter Night on May 22nd marks the end of this year, but not the end. With the passing of the bell, the Club continues its journey under the guidance of new president Christophe Cerinotti, continuing a vision that focuses on content, quality relationships, and concrete initiatives for the community.
