In recent days an important meeting was held between Norman Gobbi, Ticino State Councilor, and Pascal Lüthi, Director of the Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (UDSC). A summit that also saw the participation of Matteo Cocchi, Commander of the Cantonal Police, and Silvio Tognetti, Head of Southern Customs. At the center of the discussion, the analysis of existing cooperation and future strategies for strengthening border security.
The meeting provided an opportunity to take stock of the effectiveness of the collaboration between the Ticino cantonal authorities and the UDSC. In recent years, the synergic action between the Cantonal Police and the Southern Customs has led to significant results, especially in the fight against cross-border crime and the management of irregular migration. Operational cooperation, based on mixed patrols and a constant exchange of information, has proven to be an effective model for improving controls and ensuring more timely interventions.
Gobbi and Lüthi expressed full satisfaction with the progress made thanks to the joint operations, underlining how the synergy between the forces in the field is essential to maintain high safety standards. With the aim of further consolidating this collaboration, new preventive and operational initiatives will be implemented in the coming months, which will involve both Corps in their different areas of action.
