Yesterday – January 23, 2025, the Swiss Ambassador to Brazil, Ticino native Pietro Lazzeri, was received by Michele Guerra, President of the Grand Council of the Republic and Canton of Ticino.
After an initial formal greeting, a delegation from the cantonal parliament met with the diplomat to discuss issues of regional interest at the federal and international levels.
Lazzeri, originally from Caviano, boasts a long diplomatic career in many countries around the world: Vietnam, Central America, Bern, Venezuela, Rome, Cameroon and is today our Swiss Ambassador in Brasilia.
With this new meeting, the activities, open to all 90 Deputies, announced by President Guerra at the time of his election, continue, with the aim of strengthening collaboration between all the Deputies.
The meetings with the Swiss Ambassador to Brazil, Pietro Lazzeri, which were part of a broad diplomatic effort by the cantonal government , aimed to identify issues of interest to the canton and, as in this case, to strengthen the cantonal parliament's relations with, for example, senior federal officials, particularly those who actively defend the interests of the Confederation and the cantons.
Brazil is also Switzerland's largest trading partner in Latin America and the relations are historic and deep.
