Lugano witnessed yesterday - 26 April 2024 - the first session of the Town Hall for the 2024-2028 legislature, a moment of transition which saw Mayor Michele Foletti and the new members of the Town Hall officially assume their roles. The ceremony was preceded by the signing of the declaration of loyalty to the Constitution and the Laws by Mayor Foletti and the new Municipal Alternates Giovanni Luraschi, Silvia Torricelli and Deborah Moccetti Bernasconi.

One of the first formalities of the day was the delivery of credentials by the Justice of the Peace Roberto Martinotti to Mayor Foletti, a symbol of the responsibility and authority that the office entails. At the same time, the cantonal assessment office assigned the seats for the position of Municipal Alternate, distributing two places to the Ticinesi League and one to the Radical Liberal Party.

With a renewed sense of commitment and dedication, the new members of City Hall officially took possession of their roles. In particular, Marco Chiesa and Raoul Ghisletta have taken office as new heads of the departments previously led by the outgoing Municipalities. Marco Chiesa will be responsible for the Consulting and Management Dicastery, which now includes the Finance Division, while Raoul Ghisletta will take care of the Real Estate Dicastery.

However, continuity was an important key in the formation of the new government team, with five Municipalities retaining the leadership of their departments:

  • Michele Foletti, confirmed at the Institutions Dicastery.
  • Roberto Badaracco, who continues to direct the Dicastery for Culture, Sport and Events.
  • Lorenzo Quadri, at the helm of the Training, Support and Sociality Department.
  • Karin Valenzano Rossi, who remains responsible for the Department of Security and Urban Spaces.
  • Filippo Lombardi, confirmed at the Territorial Development Department.

“This mix of continuity and renewal promises to carry forward the objectives established by the previous Administration, while introducing new perspectives and energies to face the future challenges of the city of Lugano“, they say from the Municipal Palace.
