Registration is now open for the Boldbrain Startup Challenge, marking the launch of the ninth edition of one of Switzerland's leading programs for early-stage startups. The call runs from April 22nd to June 11th, 2026, and is aimed at entrepreneurial teams and aspiring founders interested in developing or consolidating an innovative project based in Ticino.
An event by Fondazione Agire in collaboration with USI Startup Center, the program confirms a now consolidated structure: three months of intensive acceleration between September and December, with the aim of supporting participants in defining the business model and validating the market.
A journey through training, coaching, and networking
The Boldbrain Startup Challenge program unfolds through training sessions, individual coaching, and networking opportunities with industry experts. Selected teams will have access to a qualified network of mentors and partners, with support aimed at strengthening strategic and operational skills.
The final phase is scheduled for December 2026, with a final event during which a total prize pool of more than 210 Swiss francs will be awarded, including financial contributions and prizes in kind.
Selection criteria and openness to all sectors
The call has no sector restrictions: startups operating in a variety of fields are eligible to apply, provided they are in their early stages and have a clear desire to develop their project in Ticino. The main selection criteria include the originality of the idea, its scalability potential, and the solidity of the team.
The attention to sustainability is also confirmed, with a dedicated workshop created in collaboration with Impact Hub Ticino and further initiatives aimed at promoting positive environmental and social impacts.
Numbers from previous editions
Since its launch in 2018, the program has received a total of 915 applications, selecting 160 startups. Over time, Boldbrain has distributed prizes worth more than 1,5 million Swiss francs, including financial resources and services, as well as offering approximately 3.800 hours of coaching.
These figures help consolidate the initiative's role within the Swiss innovation ecosystem, particularly in supporting early-stage entrepreneurship.
Info Day in Lugano for potential candidates
To learn more about the contents of the program and meet organizers and alumni directly, an InfoDay is planned for May 7th in Lugano, at the Canvetto Luganese Restaurant. The event offers an informational and networking opportunity for those considering applying.
Participation is free, but registration is required on the official website.
