After almost three months of activity, the eighth edition of Boldbrain Startup Challenge enters its most anticipated segment: the selection of the ten projects that will advance to the final on December 3rd at the Palazzo dei Congressi in Lugano. This is a symbolic moment not only for those participating in the accelerator, organized by the Agire Foundation in collaboration with the USI Startup Centre, but also for the snapshot it provides of the current dynamics of Ticino startups.
The 2025 program, launched on August 28th, brought together twenty teams committed to developing business ideas through a structured program: six workshops on key innovation topics, personalized mentoring sessions, and several opportunities for discussion with investors and professionals. The first phase concluded on November 21st at the West Campus of the Università della Svizzera italiana, where the Regional Jury evaluated the documents, pitches, and the robustness of the proposed models.
Chaired by Luca Mascaro, founder and president of Sketchin, the jury applied criteria that have become consolidated over the years: innovative capacity, market potential, sustainability of the solutions, and entrepreneurial maturity of the teams. The resulting selection reflects the breadth of expertise present among today's new businesses in the area.

A look at the context
The presence of solutions related to health, sustainability, digital media and applied engineering shows how the fabric of Ticino startups Continue to diversify. The continued attention of local accelerators, combined with the growing interest of private funds and institutional investors, is helping to expand growth opportunities in sectors that were marginal in the region until just a few years ago.
The final on December 3rd, which will welcome over 700 participants including institutional representatives, entrepreneurs, and citizens, will offer an overview of the most promising solutions. In addition to the five prizes awarded by the National Jury, the audience will be able to vote directly for their favorite project, an element that in recent editions has contributed to the visibility of initiatives with a high communication impact.
