The administration will actually start in mid-November, but in the meantime the Canton can begin to schedule the calls in rest homes and vaccination centers.
Following the recommendations issued by the federal authorities, the administration will be made available gradually, following the same order in which the first two doses were planned at the beginning of the year. The first to receive the booster dose will therefore be the guests of the homes for the elderly.
Over 75 and the "dose by Christmas"
From mid-November then, it will then be up to the over 75 years old, who will be able to have cantonal vaccination centers scattered throughout the territory. The widespread availability of these vaccination centers will make it possible to renounce a new involvement of the Municipalities and, therefore, the so-called "proximity vaccination" guaranteed at the beginning of 2021. The goal is to allow this group of vaccinated population (about 30 thousand people ) to receive the booster dose by Christmas.
Over 65s
Starting from January 2022, the third dose of the anti covid vaccine will be administered in the same way to people aged 65 and over.
This planning also makes it possible to respect the minimum period of six months that must elapse between the second dose and the booster dose.

Access to the centers will be guaranteed by appointment, which can be fixed on the cantonal platform or by calling the toll-free number. The opening of the registrations as well as the details on the places and the opening days of the centers will be communicated next week during an informative moment.
For those who have not yet received the first two doses
The Cantonal Center of Giubiasco - currently operating for the vaccination of the entire population over 12 - continues to guarantee the administration to those who wish, even in walk-in mode, for the first and second doses of the vaccines available today (Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson).
