I BancaStato Group's 2025 half-year financial results They tell the story of a cantonal bank that, despite experiencing a less favorable environment than the past two years, maintains a solid and reliable profile. The first half of the year closed with a profit of 47,3 million francs, down 22,7% compared to 2024, but 38,1% higher than 2022. This performance, according to the bank itself, confirms the validity of its multi-year strategy and puts into perspective the comparison with an exceptional and unlikely two-year period.
The context: falling rates and new regulatory challenges
In recent months, the Swiss banking market has been marked by the progressive lowering of the reference rate, brought to 0%. For an institution with strong local roots such as BancaStato, this translated into a contraction in margins, especially in the key item of interest operations, which fell by 12,9% compared to 2024. Despite this, the 116,8 million generated remain well above 2022 levels (+41,6%), a sign of a long-term growth model still intact.
Financial results numbers in detail
The Group's income statement shows net revenues of 162,7 million (-10,8% compared to the previous year), a decline mitigated by some signs of resilience:
-
Revenues from commissions and services rose to 32,3 million (+1,3%),
-
net customer collection reached 127 million,
-
assets under management remain stable at 23,35 billion.
On the cost side, the 4,7% growth (€93,4 million) is mainly due to organizational adjustments and the strengthening of risk management systems, an investment made necessary by the tightening of regulatory requirements.
The operating profit stood at 62,8 million, down 26,7% compared to 2024 but up 46,2% compared to 2022, confirming the continuity of the development path.
Financial strength
One of the most significant aspects of the BancaStato Group's 2025 half-year financial results Regarding the strengthening of reserves. With €13 million added to the provisions for general banking risks, the bank is strengthening its ability to withstand any future shocks. Mortgage loans reached €12,69 billion (+2,5%), while commitments to customers increased by 3,5% to €12,52 billion, demonstrating the continued confidence of Ticino savers.
The voices of the top
Fabrizio Cieslakiewicz, Chairman of the Executive Board, emphasized that the results reflect an "effective financing strategy" capable of maintaining balance in a challenging environment. Marco Tini, Head of Management of Axion SWISS Bank SA (a Group subsidiary), expressed his satisfaction with the positive net inflows and anticipated a net profit of more than CHF 20 million at the end of the year. Finally, Michela Ferrari-Testa, Chair of the Board of Directors, emphasized the value of long-term growth and the commitment of employees.
Perspectives
For the whole of 2025, expectations remain consistent: results will inevitably be lower than the extraordinary ones of 2023 and 2024, but still positive when viewed over a multi-year perspective. This confirms BancaStato's role as a solid player, rooted in the Ticino region and capable of maintaining customer trust even in the most challenging market conditions.
