The activity of IttenBrechbühl it includes the design and construction of heterogeneous buildings such as hospitals, laboratories and research centers, railway stations, real estate complexes for office use or sports facilities. The company has seven branches throughout Switzerland and currently employs a workforce of around 300 people.
In 1922 Otto Rudolf Salvisberg and Otto Brechbühl founded an associate studio in Bern, thus laying the foundations for the future IttenBrechbühl. The Lugano branch was inaugurated in 2012, making it the only Swiss architecture firm to be present in all linguistic regions.
IttenBrechbühl's greatest ambition is to respond to the many needs of customers by designing the space according to the needs for which it is intended, optimizing processes and management costs in the logic of sustainable construction. No less important is also to convey emotions, through the designed buildings, creating a spatial identity for the people who live and work inside. As one of the largest design studios - also in collaboration with world-renowned architects - IttenBrechbühl realizes large projects reliably, with direct mandate or as a partner for total enterprise, distinguishing itself, in the relationship with clients, as solvers of complexity, with the determination and expertise necessary to support large projects. The mission is therefore to coordinate a pool of numerous sector specialists and designers, manage interdependencies in design processes with safety and effectiveness, allow communication between different languages and cultures, control costs, times and quality.
Since its foundation, IttenBrechbühl has always put its innovative capacity to the test and has been confronted with the latest trends and new possibilities offered by technology. For this he was also one of the pioneers in the use of BIM (Building Information Modeling) and has received several awards for its use. Architecture always has an impact on the built landscape and affects economic, social and environmental aspects. Consequently, sustainability in architectural projects is an integrated, unique, context-related and comprehensive approach and process that is pursued from the outset and defined in collaboration with all users and stakeholders.
