Dick & Sons has been offering USM furniture in Ticino for many years. What are this company's strengths?
«Founded in 1885, the family-run USM company is now run by the fourth generation. The USM brand stands for quality and precision, high-quality materials, meticulous workmanship, and unwavering customer service. It builds products designed to last, thanks to wear-resistant materials, modern design, and timeless style. Central to their philosophy is ensuring that both work and home environments are adaptable to all future changes.
Can we therefore say that the modularity of USM furniture represents an indisputable advantage?
Absolutely. Modularity is a true value system. Change is the only constant in life, and USM makes this idea a reality. Built with standardized components that simplify addition and reconfiguration, the furniture offers the ability to be continuously remodeled to suit changing environments and needs. For example, if the need arises to expand storage systems, you can easily add new ones with features better suited to your new needs.
Swiss production is synonymous with precision, quality, and reliability…
«USM – brand proposed by Dick & Sons – uses only the finest materials and employs the most experienced and skilled craftsmen, whose work is facilitated by cutting-edge robotic systems. Furthermore, sustainable development has been a cornerstone of the company since its inception. This means adhering to the highest standards for materials and production methods, as well as for energy and emissions. The steel at the heart of its products is highly recyclable, and production processes are carefully focused on energy efficiency and near-total recyclability at every stage.
To celebrate the 60th anniversary of its classic USM Haller, USM has launched a major innovation: the USM Haller Soft Panel. What is it?
As a natural addition to the eponymous furniture system, USM has playfully integrated a new texture into the classic metal world, offering users a completely new experience of modularity. The new USM Haller Soft Panel adds a soft and playful touch to the USM product range. The fabric panels are equipped with four magnets and can be easily inserted into the tubular structure of the modules, without further assembly or additional equipment. They can be opened up or down with equal ease and moved to the next module. The new panels were developed in collaboration with French designer Marc Venot, and the final design was created by Kevin Jones's US design studio JOBA.
With this solution, color forcefully enters to enliven the office decor…
Indeed. The aesthetics and functionality of a piece of furniture literally change in the blink of an eye, adapting to your mood or changing individual needs. Design and color combinations can be combined like puzzle pieces to form a larger pattern or mixed for a more eclectic style. Bright orange transforms into an elegant red. Every Flip/Flap is a change.
What materials were used to make these new panels?
USM Haller Soft Panel is made of high-quality synthetic fiber, with 40% recycled Seaqual® Fibers, making it lightweight, stable, and durable. It's soft to the touch and aesthetically warm, creating a striking contrast to the metal frame of the classic model. Another unique feature is that the panels dampen noise and improve room acoustics. USM Haller Soft Panels will be available from September 2025, with three sizes (750 x 350 mm, 500 x 350 mm, and 350 x 350 mm), three designs (diagonal, curved, and vertical), and ten colors to choose from.
