What motivated you to hand over the management of Qualibroker, and what results do you hope to achieve from this strengthening of the Ticino insurance landscape?

"Mainly, for me, it's a matter of age, considering that next June I'll be a young sixty-five. These are reasons—or rather, I'd say difficult choices—that you have to force upon yourself when you're fortunate enough to have chosen a profession that continues to bring you great satisfaction, both professionally and personally. Indeed, over the years, what were once purely business relationships have evolved into very transparent and even friendly relationships, with clients, Qualibroker employees, and those of insurance companies."

You have extensive experience in the sector. How has the role of the insurance broker changed over time, and how do you foresee it evolving in the coming years?

After 13 years in the industry, back in September 1990, I began my career as the director of an insurance brokerage firm, and then co-founded the current company in 2020. Regarding the changes in the role of the broker, I can certainly say that, while in the 90s, it was primarily about obtaining discounts on the rates charged by companies, in the last fifteen to twenty years, major brokers have equipped themselves with industry-related services, which significantly improve risk exposure and reduce the consequences of claims and/or events that can affect both the company and its employees. In this context, in addition to traditional insurance brokerage, our services include "absence management" and "risk management." These services can only be guaranteed if you can afford competent employees; we at Qualibroker Ticino, in addition to internal expertise, we have the significant advantage of being able to take advantage of the skills of the Group's over 450 employees in Switzerland and the over 5000 worldwide guaranteed by the network."

What is the greatest satisfaction you have achieved during your career and, conversely, your greatest regret?

The biggest? I won't go into the specifics of the professional ones, which have been numerous in various fields, such as "discovering coverage gaps," "settlement of large and unexpected claims, finding the right reasons with adjusters and/or insurance company experts," "risk/premium assessments, even, in one specific case, with an incredible retroactive reduction in premiums," but I'd like to focus on the human one, and in particular the pleasure of having fantastic collaborators/colleagues. Without underestimating the qualities of my other colleagues, I'd like to take this opportunity to mention Marco Preiano, whom I hired 25 years ago, fresh from his high school graduation, and who is now head of internal services.
I don't think I have any major regrets, and perhaps not even any regrets at all, although I've sometimes wondered, "Who knows what I would do and/or where I would be?" if I hadn't been initially guided by a master in the insurance industry, and later, if I had made different decisions when I found myself at crossroads, such as: going beyond the Gotthard Pass, returning to Ticino, starting as an external service inspector for a company, or deciding to become a broker. Now I'm ready to take on my new role as Chairman of the Board of Directors, happy to continue interacting with fantastic people, sharing experiences with clients and collaborators, and with the certainty that Alessandro Paltenghi He will certainly be able to enhance the good things he has found and improve what can be improved, for this new chapter of Qualibroker Ticino, with the ultimate goal of always guaranteeing the best possible service to current and new customers."
